Bullants Netball: Game Day | Sat 1st August

Hello to our wonderful Bullants community! It is so lovely to see all our amazing players, officials, coaches, and spectators back on the courts after our recent break! As we head into the next stretch of the season, we have a few vital updates to share. Please find below some club reminders and very important messages from the South Canberra Netball Association (SCNA) that everyone needs to review and follow.

🚨 IMPORTANT REMINDERS FROM SCNA

Important reminders from the South Canberra Netball Association (SCNA) that everyone needs to review and follow.

Photography
SCNA is bound by the policies of Netball ACT and Netball Australia, including their position statement on taking images of children. At SCNA this is applied by a requirement that:

  1. No images of children are shared on social media etc without the express permission of the child’s parent/guardian;
  2. No photographs/video is taken, even for private use, without the permission of the parent/guardian of other children who may appear in the images. The minimum requirement is that you advise an adult from the opposing team of your intention to take photographs/video, including about how the images will be used, and obtain their agreement to this. If the opposing team does not give explicit agreement, you cannot take photographs/video during that game, regardless of how you intend to use the images.

Animals
No animals can be inside the fence at any time (on Saturdays or other days when training is taking place) or closely adjacent to the grass courts when games are being played. This is an ACT Government requirement as part of our lease. The only animals that are exempted are service animals, which should be clearly marked as such.

Parking Guidelines

  • Saturday Games: Only SCNA exec volunteers or those people with disability parking permits are allowed to bring their cars into the courts on Saturdays, even to just drop off or pick up players. The best parking is generally in the King Street carpark, as Makin Place can get very busy when there are sports being played on the fields adjacent to the netball courts.
  • Weekday Training: For players and families that train at the courts during the week, the childcare centre carpark cannot be used before 6:30 PM, Monday–Friday. The centre pays for those parking spots, so they must remain vacant for clients of the centre as they pick up their children in the afternoon/evening.

Additionally, we want to keep good relations with our neighbours as SCNA works through the process of getting approval for and constructing new courts, everyones cooperation in this will be highly appreciated.

Split Rounds this Weekend (Sat 1st Aug)

The following divisions will play split rounds this weekend (sat 1st August) – Teams in these divisions will play 2 x half games:

Juniors – Div 2 & 3
Inters – Div 3 & 4
Cadets – Div 2
Seniors – Div 2 & 3

The split rounds are an important part of the competition structure and help ensure the season remains as fair and balanced as possible. It allows the draw to be structured so that teams have an even distribution of games against other teams in their division.

You can check your teams game info via : Play HQ .

Respecting & Supporting Umpires & Officials

Please support them (and all officials) to grow by not commenting on the umpiring during the game or with your players afterwards.

Upholding our Code of Conduct

We are aware that there have been a number of unacceptable incidents on the sideline of netball courts in NSW and WA over the last month. Bullants is incredibly proud of our community’s conduct in respectfully and inclusively supporting our players, coaches and officials and we thank our bullants community for continuing to uphold this conduct.

However, this serves as a timely reminder of the standards we expect and uphold. We fully anticipate every member of our community will continue to champion our Code of Conduct at all times.
Bullants does not accept anything less than complete respect and inclusivity for our players, coaches, and officials.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, positive environment for our sport.
