We can’t ignore the forecast is looking very wet and windy tomorrow, and with no games until the end of July we’ve decided to make an early call on training now.
We will be back next week! Wednesday the 2nd of July we will hold a round robin so our Bullants teams will get to have some match play before the break.
We will then take week one of the holidays off, so no training on the 9th of July, before returning for training for those that are around and keen on the 16th of July. We may not have full teams this week, but there will be someone around to run training for each age group!
Finally we will all come back for regular training on the 23rd of July, before we return to games on the 26th of July.
In summary: 25th June: no training; 2nd July: training is on; 9th of July: no training; 16th July: training is optional but highly encouraged; 23rd July: back to our usual schedule of Wednesday night training and Saturday games!
Thank you all for showing up in your rainbow best for our pride round on the weekend! It was wonderful to see so many of you embrace the occasion and we’re so grateful it was such a lovely day! A reminder if you haven’t already, we’re fundraising for Minus18, a charity designed to support LGBTQI+ youth, we’d love you to make a donation if you’re able to support the valuable work they do here.
Saturday was our last game until the 26th of July, we have a long break for junior championships and school holidays. We will continue to train during the school term so please come along to training unless you hear otherwise! We have lots of fun things planned to keep us entertained and busy, watch this space!
The first thing we have planned is this Saturday! We have former Aussie Diamond Susan Pettitt coming to run some skills clinics for our NSG & Juniors between 10:30 and 12pm, and our inters, cadets and seniors between 12-1:30pm. Click here to sign up!
The Australian Masters Games are being held in Canberra this October. We’re looking to put in some Bullants teams for those 30+. We’re also on the lookout for umpires, coaches, scorers and timers so please let us know you’re interested by filling in the EOI – click here.
We can’t wait to see you all in your rainbow finest for our Pride Round tomorrow.
Come see us at the back of the courts to collect some rainbow ribbon, we have plenty to go around!
We’re also fundraising for Minus18, a charity designed to improve the lives of young LGBTQI+ individuals, please donate here.
Bullants Netball align with Netball Australia’s inclusion policies, stating there is no place for discrimination, of any kind, including on the basis of gender, religious belief, age, race or sexual orientation.
Netball should be a safe, welcoming environment for transgender and gender diverse people by eliminating discriminatory behaviour in netball, and our club works to promote a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all those involved in netball.
We can’t wait to see you all get involved tomorrow!
We hope you enjoyed your long weekend and a little break from netball! We’re pumped to get right back into it next weekend.
Tuesday marks fitness training once more, come along to learn some new tips and tricks. $10, any fitness level welcome!
Next weekend, we’re back to games, and are going to be celebrating pride round. We at Bullants are passionate about creating a welcoming environment for everyone who loves netball as much as we do, to come along and feel welcome. One of the ways we like to do this, is through celebrating pride round annually, to show our visible commitment.
We’d love for you to wear your rainbows on game day, this might mean ribbons or socks or scrunchies, whatever you have available. We will also have plenty available to hand out on the day.
We’re also fundraising for Minus18, a charity centred around supporting LGBTQI+ youth to feel safe, empowered and surrounded by people who support them. If you’d like to join us in donating, please click here.
We can’t wait to see you all in your rainbow best on Saturday!
New Uniform Item – Bullants Long Sleeve Top: We are excited to introduce a long sleeve top into our uniform range. These are made to order only, we will not be holding additional stock. If you would like to order one, please come to the pavilion to try on and pay for your order at training on the next two Wednesdays – 28 May and 4 June – from 6pm. The long sleeve top is $55.
Pride Round: Bullants will host another Pride Round in round 4, on the 14th of June. We had such a blast last year, we can’t wait to do it all over again! We’d love to see you dressed in your finest (netball appropriate) rainbow gear, and we’re letting you know nice and early to give you plenty of time to prepare! We’ll be in touch with more details and a reminder soon.
Canteen duty: We’re on this weekend, and need a few more volunteers, particularly in the early morning and later in the afternoon. We’d love to see some new faces put their hands up to support the club, to help share the load across our community. Please click here if you can help out.
Lost property: While we can’t guarantee we have your items if you’ve misplaced them, we have had a few handed in. If you’re missing something, please come and chat to us on Wednesday evening and we can have a look for you!
Injuries: If you’re injured on a Wednesday or Saturday, please ensure you let us know! It needs to be recorded by an official before you leave the grounds. Once this is complete, further steps are found here.
Training: A reminder for all our lovely parents that we ask you not to stand on the sideline during training. If you would like to wait around, your car, outside the fence or at the BBQ are the best places to wait. In addition, there is no parent parking or drop off/pick up inside the gated SCNA carpark (off Makin place) on a Wednesday night, please park in the King Street carparks instead.
Dogs: As much as we love to meet all your fluffy friends, there are unfortunately no dogs allowed on SCNA and ACT Government sporting grounds. This means inside the courts, as well as the grass courts, and the cricket/touch fields at the back. Your best bet is to leave them at home!
Uniforms: all stock has now arrived and has been handed out. If you’re missing something please reach out ASAP.
Grading: we’ve now completed both Bullants and SCNA grading and are finally about to start playing some games! There has been movement in most divisions so please check your division and time carefully for the weekend. SCNA has worked hard to ensure a balance of team skills and numbers with the goal of the best player experience for everyone.
Umpires: the Junior Umpiring Program commences this week, which means lots of budding young umpires will get their first opportunity to blow the whistle. Please be as supportive and respectful as you can, as we desperately need umpires to keep playing netball! If you do have concerns PLEASE DO NOT approach the umpire, and instead find an umpire supervisor in a pink vest. They are there to help guide and mentor our new umpires. Please only approach the mentors if you have been asked to do so by the coach.
IDAHOBIT: is this Saturday the 17th of May, and is the international day against LGBTQIA+ discrimination. While we will have a pride round later in the season, we’d encourage you all to wear your rainbow (netball appropriate) accessories to show your support. Discrimination in sport is common, and sports are often not seen as a safe space. We at Bullants are passionate about changing this for our LGBTQIA+ communities, and encourage you all to join us in showing your support. Click here for more info.
We were so excited to see you all and break in the new courts on Saturday! Thank you for all your patience in getting the season underway, we’re certainly glad to be finally playing games!
Fitness training: we’re still aiming to have a four week block, starting tomorrow, 6:30pm at SCNA! The new dates will be the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th May. This is open to inters, cadets and seniors at a cost of $10 per session.
Uniforms: final uniforms have arrived and these are ready to collect. Please remember to collect these on Wednesday at training, as we cannot facilitate uniform collection on Saturdays.
Training: we’re anticipating that Wednesday training will be limited to the four courts again, with no updates from the electrician about the lights. As a reminder to parents, you’re welcome to stay (though you don’t need to!), but please wait at the BBQ area, not courtside.
While we’re on the topic of training, we want to re-iterate that training is compulsory. If you anticipate that you will regularly miss training please email the club to seek an exemption, as it’s important for our teams and coaches to minimise disruptions.
