Hi Bullants families,

We have received updated information from SCNA about registrations for the Twilight competition commencing 17 October. SCNA requires us to nominate all  teams competing in the Twilight competition by 1 October. Accordingly we need all players registered by Saturday 29 September so that we can guage numbers and submit teams to SCNA in time.

Click here to register for Bullants in the Twilight competition. If you have a team, or a group of players, that you would like to be nominated together then please email the list of names to bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

If you have any questions about this process please email us or call Bernadette Mihaljevic (Bullants registrar) on 0404 061 201.

Twilight Social Registration

Please take care to register to the correct Registration Link.  Use the links on the Twilight Social WEBPAGE [link] NOT through your MyNetball profile.  It is really hard to reverse registrations done in error as the payments go automatically through to Netball ACT or SCNA.  Don’t forget to get  your registrations through quickly so we can nominate teams.

It’s party time

Don’t forget our end of season celebration starts at 530pm at the Deakin Soccer Club.

See you all there 😀🎉🎈

Bullants End-of-Season Function, AGM and Fundraising BBQ

Dear Bullants Families

I hope you have all sent in your RSVPs for the end-of-season presentation night on Wednesday 19th September at the Deakin Soccer Club. Click here if you haven’t yet sent in your RSVP. Formalities will commence at 5.45, so please make sure you arrive in good time.

Immediately after the presentation night we will hold our Annual General Meeting. It would be great if some club members can stay to participate in the meeting. Indeed, we cannot hold the meeting unless we reach quorum of 5. The positions on the committee are all up for election. Some committee members have already indicated a willingness to continue to serve on the committee in some capacity, but we do have some vacancies. Below is a list of the roles on the committee with a summary of their responsibilities. Should you be interested in participating in the management of our club please call me or send an expression of interest to bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

President – chair committee meetings (3 per year), provide strategic direction, oversee and support the work of other committee members, co-authorise payments.
Vice President – chair meetings in President’s absence, contribute to strategic direction of club, act as first point of contact for disputes/concerns/complaints.
Secretary – prepare minutes of meetings, deal with external correspondence.
Treasurer – provide financial management of club, keep record of accounts, prepare and arrange audit of annual financial statement, lodge annual return to Office of Regulatory Services.
Public Officer – act as contact point for regulatory authorities (normally this role is taken on by the Secretary)
Registrar – manage registration process, allocate players to teams, maintain and keep updated the club information in mynetball.
Uniform Coordinator – receive orders and arrange for purchase and distribution of uniforms to players.
Coach Coordinator – Source coaches from SCNA community, allocate coaches to teams, brief coaches about club policies and expectations, coordinate access to coach development sessions.
Umpire Coordinator – Source umpires from Bullants and broader SCNA community, allocate umpires to games/teams, work with treasurer to make umpire payments.
Manager Coordinator – Seek volunteer managers for all junior and inters teams, brief managers on club policies and expectations.
Equipment Coordinator – Check team bags to ensure all necessary equipment available, work with treasurer to purchase missing items over the summer break, distribute bags to coaches.

On Saturday Bullants is running the bbq. This is a great opportunity for our club to raise some money which will be spent on our end-of-season presentation night, new equipment, umpire payments etc. At the moment only 6 of the 20 x 1 hour timeslots have been filled. If you have an hour to spare on Saturday please come to help. You can sign up here.

Whoot! We made it to finals

Congratulations to the  19 Bullants teams who competed across all divisions.  We hope you have had a great season.  Of the 15 teams eligible for finals, 7 will take the court this weekend in the semi finals.  Good luck players, we know you will represent Bullants well.  Thanks to Grace Underwood, SCNA umpire mentor who came down to chat to the girls on Wednesday night in preparation for the finals.  The girls asked some great questions to clarify rules.

A few reminders about the finals series:

GAME TIMES THIS WEEK: Juniors – 10:30 am, Inters 2 & 4 – 12pm, Inters 1 & 3 – 1 pm  Next week game times for all Inters will be 12 pm

There will be no draws, we will play until we have a result.  The players and coaches were briefed on this on Wednesday night.

Court time:  As per our player policy – Players of all divisions who make the finals rounds (semi, preliminary and grand finals) will be played at the discretion of the coach. All players are guaranteed two quarters (Divisions 3 & 4) and one quarter (Divisions 1 & 2) of court time per game.

Players: Come to the courts GAME READY with plenty of time to warm up.  You need to take the court at the 30 second mark to ensure the game starts on time.  Remember good sportsmanship is remembered and valued long after the game has ended.  Play with passion and integrity and you are a winner regardless of the result.  You’ve GOT THIS!!

Scorers: We need one scorer for each team to be on the scoring bench to work collaboratively with the other scorer.  Thanks to the awesome volunteers who take on this role.

Spectators:  all spectators need to be on the opposite side of the court to the players bench.  Please let the coaches do their thing, be respectful of the umpires and the opposition.  Cheer wildly when we score, but don’t forget to acknowledge great play from the opposition.  Remember, the world doesn’t end if our teams don’t win, support your child with encouragement even in defeat.

Go Bullants!!!!

Saturday Netball – 25 August

It’s a big Saturday down at SCNA with the end of the season proper and presentations for NSG, Juniors Go and the Volunteer of the Year.  All presentations will be on Court 2 and your support in getting players organised and sitting ready for the presentation would be appreciated.

9:50 am – NSG Set presentation
10:50 am – Juniors Go presentation
11:50 am – Volunteer of the Year Awards

Bye:  Comanche

Seniors
After last weeks wash out, Senior draws have been updated.  As this is the last round  before finals, we are going to try and get all rotation rounds completed.  Seniors Div 1 & 3 will play 3 mini games starting at 2 pm.  Please check the draws carefully and know where your court changes are.  Seniors Div 2 only need one more round to complete the rotation however please note your game starts at 3:30 pm this week.  As we had a team join this division in Week 3, points towards the finals will be calculated from Round 3-11 inclusive as that represents one whole rotation; everyone plays everyone .The ladder will be adjusted following the completion of round 11 to remove points from round 1 & 2.

All divisions: in the event of rain again this week, finals will be calculated based on points at the last played round.

Canteen Duty: Mohawks (11:50)

As we prepare for our End of Year Celebration on Wednesday 19 Sept, Junior and Inters coaches will be asking players to nominate their players player award.  This award is for the player who makes the players feel most included in the team and who they most enjoy playing with, not who they think is the “best” player or who they may have the best friendship with.  Managers, voting slips will be available from Bernadette.  Seniors, your nominations are online – Please vote for your Players Player award HERE

Last chance to nominate your favourite volunteer in the following categories: Senior Volunteer, Junior Volunteer, Delyse Paliaga Junior Umpire of the Year.  Nominate here

Saturday Netball – 11 August

Scorers – please remember we need an adult to score each game.  It is a collaboration between both scorers to ensure the score reflects the outcome of the game.

Canteen Duty – Chinook (8:50-10), Comanche (10:50-12), Chickasaw (1:50-3), Chiefs (2:50-4)

Team photos – we still some teams to snap.  Please don’t be late to the courts or you may miss out on being included, which would be sad.

Looking to watch some great netball.  The ACT Tier 2 State League kicks off tonight and there is an additional round on Sunday out at Lyneham.  This year is the first year the Men’s League is included in the State League comp.  The Men are on at 9pm tonight and 1pm on Sunday.
