Grading Continues and Welcome to Net Set NET/GO/SET this Wednesday

Welcome to our Grades 2, 3 and 4 players this Wednesday for our NetSet NET, NetSet SET and NetSet GO divisions. Your training session is 5.15-6.15pm.

The Uniform Shop will be open from 5.30pm so please be sure to get your uniform this week. This is the last week our volunteers can man the shop, so be sure to drop by on Wednesday if you need a Bullants dress. Please look out for the Covid-friendly layout.

For our Juniors/Inters and Seniors players, we have almost finalised all players into teams but there are a few players that have not yet been allocated to a team. We will conduct a final grading session this week to check over our teams before team announcements are made next week. Please remember to write your GRADING NUMBER on your arms and legs and make sure it is visible from a distance. Please REMOVE EARRINGS and watches and make sure your hair is tied back.

We are looking for more PARENT COACHES. Come and share your netball knowledge and develop our players. Please send us an email to register your interest. Keep in mind that we can group parents as co-coaches if you need a lesser time commitment or if you feel your coaching skills could do with some additional input.

We look forward to seeing our whole club at the courts this Wednesday. It will be very busy, so please arrive early to be on court at your allocated time.

NET SET Program & Juniors: 5.15-6.15pm

Inters: 6.30-7.30pm

Seniors: 7.30-8.30pm

Grading Continues Tomorrow and Uniform Shop Open

We look forward to seeing all our Juniors / Inters / Seniors again tomorrow for Week 2 of grading. Remember Kindy-Yr4 (NetSetGo), you get to stay at home again! Same timeslots – 5.15pm Juniors; 6.30pm Inters and 7.30pm Seniors.

Please REMEMEBER to write YOUR NUMBER on your arms and legs to save us time and maximise court time.

The uniform shop will be open from 5.30pm once we have the Juniors on court. Parents if you need to try on a dress with your daughter, do it AFTER their grading session. Please remember to sanitise as you enter the courts.

See everyone tomorrow and feel free to approach your friendly committee with any questions (send us an email or speak to us in person – we are recognisable in our Bullants shirts) .

Grading starts tomorrow!

We look forward to seeing all our Juniors / Inters and Seniors back on court tomorrow for Grading. No grading is required for the NetSetGo players (K – Grade 4).

Grading runs for 3 weeks – 10, 17 and 24 February. Times as follows:

5.15pm-6.15pm Juniors (yr 5 & yr6)

6.30pm-7.30pm Inters (Yr 7 – Yr 9)

7.30pm-8.30pm Seniors (yr 10 – adult)

What to expect?

The purpose of grading is to form teams. Each player will get an identifying number written on their leg or arm. We aim to group players of similar skill level and form teams of ideally 9-11 players. If a team is too big, there is less court time, if a team is too small, there may not be sufficient coverage for absences on game day. Ideally each team will have a good spread of player positions – no use having a whole team of shooters!

Our aim is for happy players and we encourage you to communicate with us any preferences you have for friendship groups etc. Please be aware though, that not every request can be accommodated.

Attached is more information about Bullants that might answer other questions you have.

We look forward to a great season!

Calling all Netball Coaches!

The Bullants Netball Club is now seeking expressions of interest from prospective coaches for our 2021 Netball season.  We are always on the lookout for new coaches to join our team of volunteers to help our players develop their skills and good sporting behaviour.

Last winter, we had 25 teams represent Bullants netball club– with players ranging in age from 7 years (Net Set Go) to much more experienced (Seniors).  We fielded teams in every age group and need people to coach and lead our teams during training and games.  We are seeking new or experienced coaches who can support a positive and safe experience for the players.

Coaching commitment generally consists of:

  • 1 hour of training on Wednesday afternoon
  • 1.5 hours of warm up and game time on Saturday
  • Preparation time such as planning training and team positions for games

Bullants netball club offers a range of activities to support coaches including a handbook, briefings, drills, positional allocation template and training equipment.  You will be required to hold or obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Card (or the equivalent) if you are over the age of 16 years.

If you are interested, please email Bullants at bullantsnetball@gmail.com by Saturday 20 February 2020 with the following details:

Bullants Winter Netball – Registrations

Hello Bullants families!

We hope your preparations for the start of the school year are progressing smoothly.

This is a reminder for all Junior, Intermediate and Senior netballers to get your registrations completed. It is less than 2 weeks until we start grading on 10 February. Deadline for registrations is 7 February to give the committee a few days to get the grading sessions organised and to secure the appropriate number of coaches, umpires etc. Please register asap to assist with this process.

We have received approval for our NetSetGo program and the registration portal is now open. You won’t start training until after grading is finished, so you have until 24 February to get your registrations completed. We would, however, appreciate if you would get registering asap to assist the committee with preparations.

The link for all registrations is here.

If you have any questions please email us at bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

Bullants Netball – Registrations Open Now

Hello Bullants families, and happy new year!

Registrations for the 2021 Winter Netball Season to be played at South Canberra Netball Association in Deakin are now open for all Juniors (School Years 5 & 6), Intermediates and Seniors.

Registrations for NetSetGo (School Years 2-4) will be open as soon as we have approval from Netball ACT for our 2021 program, hopefully in the next couple of days. We will advise you as soon as that becomes available.

We will have our first grading night for Juniors (Years 5 & 6), Intermediates and Seniors on Wednesday 10 February 2021 (second week back at school). We anticipate 3 weeks of grading with individual team training commencing from 3rd March. Remember, Bullants is not a selective club. Rather, the purpose of grading is to group players of similar abilities into teams so that we can ensure teams are placed in an appropriate division for all members.

To help the committee prepare for grading we need you to register by 7 February using this link: http://bullants.act.netball.com.au/Winter-competition.aspx?rw=c

If you have any questions please email us at bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

SCNA plans to hold 2 weeks of compulsory grading (27 March and 24 April) to sort teams into their appropriate competition grade. We will let you know once we have more information on how those grading days will be conducted. In the meantime, don’t put anything else in your diary for those days. The season proper will start on 1 May and will run for 13 weeks, plus finals for those teams who qualify.

If you are interested in coaching or umpiring and have not yet contacted us please do so via email at bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

We also have all sorts of roles that provide a great opportunity to be a part of our Bullants community. It takes players, coaches, umpires, managers, uniform sorters, kit bag packers, bloggers, sausage sizzlers and much more to build a strong club.

Please consider becoming involved to strengthen our club.

Bullants Committee

Festive Wishes from the Committee

Wishing everyone in the Bullants community a wonderful Xmas celebration and a safe, happy and healthy New Year. Thank you to all those who have volunteered in some capacity this challenging season – without your valuable help netball cannot run as seamlessly as it does. You don’t always need netball skills to volunteer, we are currently seeking sewers to replace the elastic on some of our bibs. Elastic is provided, so please send us an email if you are able to help.

Over 25 sets of bibs have been washed and are ready for 2021. Please look out online for winter registrations opening late January. It is important that you register quickly, as we need to know if you intend to play before our first training/grading/team allocation on Wednesday 10 February 2021 (except NetSetGo).

Now is the perfect time to get your ears pierced. Remember that Netball Australia doesn’t allow taped earrings on court, so if you are thinking of getting your ears pierced, please consider this as the ideal time of year.

To our players, coaches, managers, umpires, scorers, gate duty and other volunteers please travel safe, have a very Merry Christmas and see you in 2021.
