Netball resumes; Congratulations

Netball Resumes: We hope all of our Bullants community has enjoyed a restful break over the school holidays and is ready to resume netball this week. Training is back on Wednesday and Round 5 of the competition is on Saturday which means we are almost halfway through the 10 round season! Finals commence 2 September, so the focus from coaches will soon move toward finals preparation (for those age groups who are eligible). Everyone will be thrilled to hear the wall mounted countdown clock and floodlights are now all working!

Team Duty: Please look out for comms from your Team Manager for your rostered team duty between now and the end of the season (i.e. canteen, set up, pack up etc.)

Photos: we will start taking team photos from this Saturday. Please be sure to let your coach know if you are away for any of the upcoming weeks so that we can try to find a Saturday when most of your team will be present for a photo.

Save the date, End of Season events:

  • Juniors at the courts Wednesday 20 September
  • Seniors after the Grand Final 16 September (venue TBA)

Congratulations: Congratulations to all the Bullants players, coaches and umpires who participated in the U12/U13 ACT Junior Championships at the start of the school holidays. Extra congratulations to the four Bullants players who played in the winning U12 Div 1 team and special mention to three of those who have been selected to represent the ACT at the National Schools Sport competition later this year – Ava W, Willow B And Abi C.

Twilight comp: we haven’t any firm details from SCNA yet, but based on previous years, we expect Twilight Social netball will commence second week of Term 4 (around 16 Oct) and run for 8 weeks. For parents/carers who would love to return to playing netball, this is a great way to return to court in a non-competitive environment. All ability levels welcome.

Bullants Netball- games night cancelled

Netball courts are very wet and it is likely to keep raining for at least another hour or so, accordingly the committee has decided to cancel all sessions this evening

We hope you all have a lovely break and we wish our players playing at ACT Junior Championships a great weekend of netball.

Bullants Netball – Intraclub Games Night

The committee is keeping an eye on the radar. We will advise whether we are proceeding with the intraclub games night this evening as follows:

5.30 session for NSG and Juniors – by 4pm
6.30 session for Inters and Cadets – by 5pm
7.30 session for seniors – by 6pm

ACT Junior Championships & Training/Round Robin

Congratulations to the Bullants players who represented SCNA at the U14/U15s ACT Championships over the weekend and best wishes to all our U11/U12/U13s representatives this coming weekend. Go well and have fun!

We have a Round Robin event planned for training this Wednesday. Your coach should have been in touch with details. This event is subject to the lights being repaired tomorrow. Please plan to play, unless you hear differently.

After this Wednesday, we will break from training over the school holidays and resume training 19th July. Stay warm.

Training cancelled

Apologies, we have arrived at the courts to discover the water is off and more lights broken. We will have to cancel training. Apologies to those who have already hit the road.

Yr 2, 3 & 4 Training Tonight cancelled

Unfortunately we have just learnt the lights are still not repaired and we again need to cancel training for year 2, year 3 and year 4 teams.  Please look out for advice from your coaches, as there may be an opportunity to train this Saturday given there are no games.

All other training timeslots will train tonight as per the normal schedule.

Netball ACT is running a School Holiday Clinic in July

Hi Bullants community,

Sharing these details in case you are interested:

Netball ACT’s School Holiday Clinics are back with lot’s of fun and learning.

The clinic will run from Tuesday 11th through till Thursday 13th of July.

All three days will start at 9:00am and finish at 12:30pm at the Solarhub ACT Netball ACT Centre, 435 Northbourne Avenue Lyneham ACT 2602 (indoor).

Our clinics are all about having fun and being active. They cater to all levels of netball experience and fitness with a focus on enjoyment and the social benefits of netball. We ask that all participants bring a water bottle, morning team and a can do attitude and lots of energy! Some fresh fruit provided by Woolworths will also be available on all three days.

If you have any questions, please contact Emma Brear – Program Coordinator emma.brear@netballact.com.au

If you are purchasing a two day ticket, please email Emma which days you would like to attend.

Training changes tomorrow

Half of the floodlights at the SCNA courts are not working, leaving only half the number of courts suitable for training. The fault detection and repair is now with the ACT Government and we are not sure how quickly this will be rectified.

Unfortunately the committee has had to make a difficult decision and cancel tomorrow’s training for year 2, year 3 and year 4 teams.  At all other training time slots, there should be enough courts for two teams to share a court that has working lights. We are disappointed not to get everyone on court before Saturday, but the safety of players is our priority.

Upcoming netball dates; Carpark use at Training

The next few weeks play havoc with our netball routine. Here is when we play:

Saturday 12 June – no netball, long weekend

Saturday 17 June – netball as normal, Round 4

Saturday 24 June- no netball, ACT Jnr Champs

Saturday 1 July – no netball, school holidays & ACT Champs

Saturday 8 July – no netball, school holidays

Saturday 15 July – no netball, school holidays

Saturday 22 July – games resume, Round 5

Training:

Wednesday night training continues during the school term. No training throughout the school holidays i.e. 5 & 12 July. Look out for more details of our ’round robin’ event where we will keep our game skills going.

Please do not access car park on Wednesday Training: We have several parents using the SCNA carpark inside the courts to pick up and drop off their players at training. This is particularly dangerous given the limited lighting and small unpredictable children. For safety we ask that the carpark is accessed by coaches and SCNA Executive only. Parents, please park your car and WALK to the courts to drop off/pick up your child. The best parking is in King Street.

Enjoy your long weekend!
