FINALS, PLAYER’S PLAYER VOTES, END OF SEASON CELEBRATIONS, TWILIGHT NETBALL

This week is the last training and game for some teams. The last round of the regular season is this Saturday before we head into preliminary finals/semi finals/grand finals on the 2/9/16 September. If your team is playing in the Finals, please note that the game time can be different from your regular timeslot. Be sure to check PlayHQ.

PLAYER’S PLAYER

Nominations now open – Inters, Cadets and Seniors players, please vote for your Player’s Player on the links below. Your vote should be for the person in your team who you believe is the player who makes the other players feel most included in the team, and who you most enjoy playing with, not who you think is the “best” player or who you may have the best friendship with. Awards will be presented at presentation nights.

Junior players – votes are collated through your coach

END OF SEASON CELEBRATIONS

Our End of Season celebrations are a casual social gathering, where we celebrate the season and present team awards. RSVPs open soon.

THANKING YOUR COACH

Team Managers will be coordinating an end of season gift to thank the coach. Please ensure you respond to these requests promptly. Coaches give up an enormous amount of time throughout the season to help players improve their netball skills and to create positive team environments. We do not pay our coaches, they are all volunteers. It would be great for all coaches to receive a thank-you memento from their team either at the last game or the end of season event.

Bullants training

Finally some good news…… the lights are working and we can all train tonight. See you at the courts!

Bullants Training

We have been advised by SCNA that the lights are still not working on the front courts. There is an electrician scheduled to attend on Wednesday, but we don’t know if they will be repaired in time.

The main impact is on the 5.30 session when we have 15 teams training and we need to use all the courts. We will let you know asap if we have to cancel any of the 5.30 training sessions.

If there are any teams that may be able to start early, say from 4.30, please get in touch with us so that we can open the courts for you.

Vote now: Volunteer of the Year Awards

The South Canberra netball community recognises volunteers who tirelessly go over and above to make netball happen. We encourage everyone in the Bullants community to vote in these important awards. Please vote before 6pm Monday 14 August. Finalists/winners will be announced during Round 10, 26 August (last week of games before finals). Link to vote: https://forms.gle/9cjNDYqB98yXEtZ78

There are four award categories:

Coach of the Year

Umpire of the Year

Junior (<18yrs) Volunteer of the Year

Senior (>18yrs) Volunteer of the Year

Bullants Training Problems

We have arrived at the courts to find only half the lights working……. again!!!

We have cancelled training for the Year 2,3 and 4 teams. Parents/carers, please come to the courts asap to pick up your children. You should have received a message from your coach/manager by now. If you have older children who are training in the 5.30 time slot, we will supervise the younger ones until 6.30. Reminder: enter via King Street. There is an SCNA Exec meeting on tonight and there is no parking within the courts.

Inters/Cadets/Seniors – we anticipate you all training unless you get a specific message from your coach/manager.

SCNA Starlight Foundation fundraiser this Saturday

SCNA is holding a fundraiser round in support of the Starlight Foundation on the 5th of August! The Starlight Foundation helps transform the hospital and healthcare experience of kids and young people across Australia. We would love to see everyone get involved and support a great cause!

Bullants Training

This is a reminder to all parents and carers.

Please do NOT enter the courts carpark for drop off or pick up. There are many children walking around the area and it is dangerous if we have cars entering and leaving the courts. Also, we need to leave the car spaces free for our coaches who are volunteering their time, usually in multiple time slots.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Netball resumes; Congratulations

Netball Resumes: We hope all of our Bullants community has enjoyed a restful break over the school holidays and is ready to resume netball this week. Training is back on Wednesday and Round 5 of the competition is on Saturday which means we are almost halfway through the 10 round season! Finals commence 2 September, so the focus from coaches will soon move toward finals preparation (for those age groups who are eligible). Everyone will be thrilled to hear the wall mounted countdown clock and floodlights are now all working!

Team Duty: Please look out for comms from your Team Manager for your rostered team duty between now and the end of the season (i.e. canteen, set up, pack up etc.)

Photos: we will start taking team photos from this Saturday. Please be sure to let your coach know if you are away for any of the upcoming weeks so that we can try to find a Saturday when most of your team will be present for a photo.

Save the date, End of Season events:

  • Juniors at the courts Wednesday 20 September
  • Seniors after the Grand Final 16 September (venue TBA)

Congratulations: Congratulations to all the Bullants players, coaches and umpires who participated in the U12/U13 ACT Junior Championships at the start of the school holidays. Extra congratulations to the four Bullants players who played in the winning U12 Div 1 team and special mention to three of those who have been selected to represent the ACT at the National Schools Sport competition later this year – Ava W, Willow B And Abi C.

Twilight comp: we haven’t any firm details from SCNA yet, but based on previous years, we expect Twilight Social netball will commence second week of Term 4 (around 16 Oct) and run for 8 weeks. For parents/carers who would love to return to playing netball, this is a great way to return to court in a non-competitive environment. All ability levels welcome.

Bullants Netball- games night cancelled

Netball courts are very wet and it is likely to keep raining for at least another hour or so, accordingly the committee has decided to cancel all sessions this evening

We hope you all have a lovely break and we wish our players playing at ACT Junior Championships a great weekend of netball.
