And then there were three…Grand finals this Saturday!

Well done to the teams that bowed out on Saturday…third place is an excellent effort.  There are three teams playing in the Grand finals on Saturday.

JUNIORS (10:30 am)

Div 1: CGGS Gold v Bullants Arapaho (court 2)

INTERMEDIATES ***(approx. 12:15pm)***

Div 2: Bullants Comanche v CGGS Diamonds (court 1)
Div 4: Bullants Kiowa v Telopea Toucans (court 3)

***All start times for games are noted as a tad later than usual, this is to allow time for presentations AND warm up time for teams. However, we would still like as many teams to be present for the presentations before and after their games, just to support and congratulate our winners and runners up.***

We only need 1 volunteer from each of the following teams each quarter just to give our SCNA volunteers an extra helping hand next weekend.

INTERS
2nd quarter: Bullants Comanche
4th quarter: Bullants Kiowa

Updated news from SCNA

Please note that on closer inspection of the SCNA Constitution, I realise I have made an error in calling for nominations for the role of President.
Section 17.4 states that
“In the event of a vacancy in the membership of the Executive, the Executive may appoint a Member of the Association to fill the vacancy and the Executive Member so appointed shall hold office, subject to these rules, until the conclusion of the next annual general meeting following the date of the appointment”.

The appointment of a member to the role of President by the Executive committee will be announced at the Council meeting.

Again, I apologise for initially providing incorrect information.

Kind regards
Ruth Mahon
Vice President – Senior

Finals round : 7 September 2013

Sadly we farewelled 5 teams from the 2013 winter competition. Congratulations to the players, coaches and umpires for these teams. With the finals rounds starting this weekend we have 8 teams competing. It is important that players from these teams attend training this week.

Juniors div 1: Bullants Arapaho; Bullants Cherokee
Juniors div 3: Bullants Shawnee

Inters div 1: Bullants Dakota
Inters div 2: Bullants Commanche
Inters div 4: Bullants Kiowa

Seniors div 2: Bullants Braves; Bullants Chickasaw

Canteen for Round 1 Finals:
So that all parents are able to watch majority of their child’s final, we have decided that we will have a parent from 2 teams in each division volunteer for one quarter only.
The best way to do this is by division, so:
Juniors
1st quarter: Bullants Cheroke
3rd quarter: Bullants Shawnee

Inters
1st quarter: Bullants Dakota

Resignation of the President of SCNA
It is with sadness that the Executive of the SCNA announce the resignation of the SCNA President, Gavan Cattanach. Gavan has work tirelessly during his time as Vice President last year and President this year all while battling a major illness. He is now taking a break to focus on his recovery.
Nominations are now open for the role of President of the SCNA. If you would like to nominate for this position, please come to the Council Meeting to be held at Deakin Netball Courts on Wednesday 4th September at 8pm. If you require more information about this role please email me at rem_178@hotmail.com

Ruth Mahon
SCNA Vice President

Round 14: 31 August 2013

After a few weeks off tomorrow is the last round of the season proper. Shawnee and Chickasaw have the bye. There will be a presentation for the NetSetGo teams following their game so come and cheer for our little teams. There are still a few team photos to be taken and we will try and get these done quickly before each game.

Here is a message from SCNA
At round 8 the divisions for most junior & inters teams were regraded to try and even out the playing ability of teams. Unfortunately this causes discrepancies in the ladders as some teams moving up bring a lot of points which doesn’t reflect the games played after the regrading. After consulting with Kate Goodyer who has been involved extensively in SCNA chair roles for many years, it has been decided that a fair way to decide who is in finals and who isn’t would be to count only the points from rounds 8-14 as each team has played each other once (exception Inters Div 3 which will be considered following this weekends game). While this is not ideal it is a consequence of regrading teams mid-season. As discussed at the beginning of the season, the combined juniors 1/2 competition will be split into a Div 1 & Div 2 finals round.

See you at the courts

SCNA Under 15 Junior Rep Netball 2014.

Selections for the 2014 Under 15 Junior Rep Squad will be held Sunday 15th of September 10am – 12pm at Deakin Netball Courts. (An additional trial will be held on Thursday 19 September if needed)

Girls born in the year of 1999 are eligible to trial.

The squad selected will also be eligible to travel to New Zealand in April 2014 with SCNA for a 10 day Netball Development Tour.

Due to selections being held early, in the event that players new to the area arrive in early 2014 they may also be considered for the 2014 U15 squad that will compete at the ACT Junior Championships in August.

U15s Junior Rep NZ Touring Squad
It is SCNA’s aim to take the 17/2 and the 2014 U15s Junior Representative and Challenge teams to New Zealand in April 2014 to further develop their skills and abilities.

Players selected in the 2014 U15 Junior Representative and Challenge teams are eligible to be part of the 2014 Tour of NZ, but parents need to inform us via email by 27th of September 2013 that they would like their daughter to be part of this tour and that both the parents and player fully understand their responsibilities to be involved in all fundraising activities.

The NZ Tour is not a compulsory component of being part of the 2014 U15 Junior Representative and Challenge teams.

The NZ tour is being organised for a departure on Friday 11th of April 2014 till the Sunday the 20th of April.  Further details will follow as soon as they are available.

The tour will consist of games, training sessions with elite NZ teams/coaches and plenty of activities throughout the 10 days.

Costs are expected to be around $3000 per player, but with fundraising we are hoping to be able to reduce this price. Fundraising will go toward paying for team support staff, such as coaches, managers and a physio to travel with us, tour kit (such as bags, tour shirts and jerseys), gifts for NZ teams played and their officials and a range of other associated tour costs. Any fundraising beyond these costs will go toward further reducing each players’ costs.

Please also note that all players and officials will need a current passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure if they will be travelling.

If you have any questions or concerns about the program please come along to the parent information night or email scna_act@internode.net with the words ‘NZ Tour’ in the email subject and your contact details, and one of the NZ Tour organising committee members will get back to you.

A parent information night regarding the NZ Tour will be held on Monday 2nd of September 2013 7.30 – 9.00pm at Holy Trinity School Library, Theodore Street Curtin to provide further information.

August update

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend off from netball last week. Our girls that play in U11 & U12’s reps had a busy weekend and played very well. This weekend the U13, 14 & 15’s have their turn so good luck to them.

Round 14 on the 31 August is the last week for our NetSetGo team and a special presentation for them will follow their game. For the teams that will not make the finals, this will also be your last game. The volunteer of the year awards will be presented after the junior games so please stay around to cheer for our Bullants nominees. Three weeks of finals follow.

Save the date for our end of year celebration…Wednesday September 25th at the Deakin netball courts. More details will follow in the next few weeks.

Summer netball will begin on Wednesday 16th October. When the details are available from SCNA we will pop them on the website. This 8 week competition is just for fun…no training. It is a great time to introduce new players to the game so if you have friends who are interested in playing, bring them along.

Training continues as usual (unless the coach has made alternate arrangements) so see you at the courts tonight.

Round 13 – 10 August 2013

Round 13 this Saturday has Commanche and Braves with the bye.

Team photos – we will try and get these done over the next two playing weeks. Can everyone make sure you are at the courts in full uniform at least 30 minutes before the game.

Volunteer awards – SCNA is seeking nominations for the 2013 volunteers awards. The categories are: senior volunteer, junior volunteer, coach of the year, umpire of the year. If you would like to nominate someone, please let me know.

See you at the courts.

Round 12 – 3 August 2013

Round 12 sees three Bullants teams having a rest: Shinook, Chiefs and Braves (through opposition forfeit).

Thanks so much for the fantastic response to my request for help on the BBQ.  It is great to have so many community minded parents.  Hopefully the weather will stay fine and we will have a successful cook up.

A reminder that we do not play on the weekends of the 17 August and 24 August.  The last game of the season proper will be 31 August.  This will be the last week for the NetSetGo girls and then the finals begin for all other divisions on 7 September.

See you at the courts

Take a bow Bullants

Today I got some really positive feedback about our teams ( and its not the first time I have heard this). One of the teams we played against said at the end of the game that it was always good playing against Bullants teams as they are such nice girls. So take a bow girls, you’re doing a fantastic job and obviously show great sportsmanship.
