Weather update

It is just drizzling, so bring your umbrella. No cancellations at this stage and the girls are having great fun playing.

Week 2 – Sat 5 April

Time to dig out the warm jacket and big umbrella, tomorrow might be damp. While Bullants’ preference is to always try and get a game in, parents have the final say in whether they allow their child to play when it is raining. The courts are all weather courts and we advise the girls to slow the play down to minimise incidents. As a rule, always come to the courts prepared to play. Any decision to cancel will be last minute. My experience has been that the girls love playing in the rain, it’s just the parents who find it difficult. Please have a discussion with your team coach if you are worried.

Parking – the best place is in the King St carpark. Makin place is too congested and the carpark inside the courts is reserved for SCNA council members.

Sideline coaches – I admit it is hard not to shout out directions to your child from the sideline…I have been guilty of it in the past myself! However I have told the players that for the one hour that they are playing they only have to listen to the coach, the umpire and their team mates. So please try hard to hold it in, it confuses the players (especially the littlies) if they hear you giving them directions also. If you find you really can’t hold it in, we are looking for coaches for two of our senior teams, they would appreciate your direction.

Grading continues for juniors and inters tomorrow and Cree have a week off as the team they are due to play have forfeited.

Training WILL be held next Wednesday but we will break for the school holidays.

See you at the courts.

SCNA AGM

The incredible tag team effort of Bullants parents in and out of the canteen on Saturday was sensational. A big thank you to everyone involved.

The SCNA Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday evening 2 April at 7:30 pm and everyone is welcome to attend and nominate for a position on the Executive. All positions will be declared vacant and for the Association to function properly, all positions need to be filled. If you would like to nominate for a role please email me at bullantsnetball@gmail.com and I will forward you a nom form.

Regards
Ruth

Canteen duty

Every team at SCNA has to do a one hour canteen duty as part of our community service.  Usually for Bullants these are spread out through the season but this week we are having a little Bullants Canteen blitz and several of our teams will be able to tick off their duty straight away.  We are looking for a couple of volunteers from each team to work with the canteen manager.  If you share the task between you then your time in the canteen only has to be brief (although if the weather is bad it is a great to hang out next to the pie warmer).  This is also a great way to meet the parents on your team as well.  Thank you in anticipation of your support.

9-10am – Shinook
10-11am – Shawnee
11-12pm – Cherokee
12-1pm – Mohawk
1-2pm – Kiowa

Round 1 – Sat 29 March

The beginning of the season has definitely popped up quickly so here are a few last minute details.

The weather – in the event that the wet weather continues, a decision to cancel will not be made until the very last minute.  Netball is a winter sport and it is expected that we will play on even when it is wet (assuming it is safe to do so). So come to the courts ready to play.  If there is a cancellation I will post a message on the website.

Uniform – We are still waiting on the supplier who is extremely busy at this time of year.  Until the uniform arrives please wear black shirt and white or club tshirt ).

Managers – We have 13 teams and only one of those teams has a manager (thanks Michelle).  We rely on parents to help out in little ways such as managing, scoring, working in the canteen and BBQ etc.  Being a manager is not a difficult job…a couple of emails and some Saturday organisation.  Please consider putting up your hand for this job especially if you haven’t contributed to the Bullants community before.

The Draw – Please make sure you check the draw regularly.  Sometime last minute changes are made.  This weekend sees Juniors and Inters grading. Be prepared and on time ready to start warming up about 30 minutes before your game.  Warm up this year will be on the grass courts.  There is only a very small time frame between games and players need to move off the court quickly after a game so that the next game can begin.  Check out the draw at

Chickasaws you have a bye this week

Jewelry and fingernails – All jewelry needs to be removed and nails clipped before arriving at the courts please.

Parking – The best place is in the King Street Carpark

Fees – All outstanding payments need to be finalised please.  This ensures you are covered by insurance.

Code of conduct – SCNA has an extensive player, coach and parent codes of conduct. They are displayed on the noticeboard in the pavilion and dictate how we all conduct ourselves on or off the court.  Let’s not forget that we are here for fun and please be respectful courtside.

Got a question…email bullantsnetball@gmail.com

See you at the courts

Attention SCNA rep players

Players travelling to NZ, your meeting will be at 7 pm

Training cancelled for all grades

The radar indicates the rain will persist so we will cancel training tonight. Coaches can come and get their kit bags up until 6:30 pm.

NSG and juniors training cancelled

It’s drizzling at the courts at the moment so we will cancel NSG and junior training for today.
A further decision on Inters and seniors will be made at 5:15 pm.

Watching the weather

Just letting everyone know we are continuing to monitor the weather and will make a decision for NSG and junior training at 4 pm.

Pre-season update

Team selection
Team selections are just about finalised and despite disruptions from the wet weather and school camps, the selectors have done an amazing job of finding the strengths in all our players.  It was great to see so many happy faces trialling and I am pleased to say we will field 13 teams across all divisions.  We are wait listing any new inquiries at this point as our teams are at capacity.  The players will meet their coaches at training this week and they will then settle into individual team training.  A reminder that any outstanding fees need to be finalised so that the players are covered by insurance.

Training
Training is a compulsory part of playing with Bullants and is held every Wednesday with the exception of school holidays.  It is necessary for team development, player fitness, and game planing (as well as for fun).  Naturally if a player is unwell or has an unavoidable appointment then it is ok to skip training but please email bullantsnetball@gmail.com or text your coach (contact details will follow once team selections are complete).  Remember that all our coaches work full time or are at school and so will not be able to respond immediately.  Any cancellations due to wet weather will be posted on the website close to start time.

Uniforms
Some of the uniform sizes have limited numbers in stock. If you have ordered and paid for any of the following sizes see  Michelle in the clubhouse Wednesday evenings 5:30 to 6:30.
Childrens size 8C and 12C shirts.
Adults size 8, 14 and 16 shirts.
Childrens Hoodies size 6, 8 and 10.
Adult Hoodies size S and M.
If you have ordered other sizes these will have to be ordered from the supplier. Due to high demand for uniforms at this time of year we are looking at a 6 week wait for these.
If you don’t have a club shirt in time for the first few games, a white t-shirt is fine.

Calendar
I have uploaded a Google calendar that lists all important dates for the season.  I  have included a link so you can sync it into your preferred calendar.  For some reason the Upcoming events section is not showing the next two weeks of training but yes it is on…so sorry for the confusion.

Car park closure at SCNA
Over the next few weeks the SCNA pavilion carpark will be closed due to a major plumbing upgrade.  The side gate on Makin St will be open however the best option for parking and court entry will be from The King St entrance.  This is the best place to park on a weekend also as the pavilion carpark is restricted to Council members only.  If you would like to park in the pavilion carpark consider volunteering for a position on the SCNA executive at the AGM on April 2nd 2014.

See you at the courts
