Saturday June 14 games

After our sleep in last weekend, netball is back this week. There has been some regrading of teams in the senior and inters divisions so please make sure you check the draw each week. The Bullants teams mostly affected are Comanche, Arapaho and Mohicans.

Chiefs have the bye this week.

SCNA is looking for an Office Administrator. Details at the SCNA website if you are interested http://southcanberranetball.sportzvault.com

Saturday 24 May

Our teams are really coming together as the season progresses. It has been great to see the development of skill and confidence has evolved over the first half of the season.
This week Arapaho have the bye and Kiowa have canteen duty.

Good luck to our players traveling to Wagga for the rep carnival on Sunday, we hope you have a fun day.

SCNA senior state league players will be holding a skills clinic on Sunday June 1 at the Deakin netball courts.
10 am – 12pm: 11 & 12 year olds
12:30 – 2:30 pm: 13, 14 & 15 year olds
Cost: $5
Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Netball Sat 17 May

This Saturday sees Juniors Div 2 and Inters Div 3 & 4 playing split rounds. These teams will play two half games. Split rounds are necessary to ensure that at the end of the season all teams have played each other twice. There will be another split round draw on June 24.

Junior Umpiring Scheme
The JUS starts this weekend at 9 am. If you are in Inters or Seniors and would like to learn how to umpire, then it is not too late to sign up. Come on down to the pavilion at 9 am and we can get you sorted.

Parents are reminded that as the junior umpires begin their course they will be umpiring in the junior time slots. Please be supportive of them…they will be nervous, they will make mistakes however they are keen and without umpires we can’t play. These young girls can be intimidated very easily by negative side line comments so let’s keep it positive. Of course this goes for all of our umpires too…it’s a tough gig umpiring, let’s show our appreciation to our umpires.

Skills clinic
The SCNA state league players will be running a skills clinic for players 11 – 15 years old on June 1 at the Deakin netball courts. Cost $5 More information can be found at the SCNA website. http://southcanberranetball.sportzvault.com

Looking forward to the sunshine tomorrow (fingers crossed)
See you at the courts

Weather update

Inters and seniors are going ahead at this point…come on down and dress warm

All junior games have been cancelled today

Inters and seniors we will make a decision closer to time

Saturday 3 May

Saturday netball will begin again tomorrow and sadly the forecast is not very pleasant so make sure you rug up and bring an umbrella. Remember any cancellations will be notified on the website but players should come prepared to play. The club hoodies should be ready for pick up in the morning and hopefully the tshirts on Wednesday.
We welcome the NSG Net players to the courts as they begin their 10 week program. We hope you enjoy playing along with Charlie and her helpers. All the draws have been updated following the juniors and inters grading rounds so pop over to the SCNA website to access them. Seniors div 1 and 2 draws have also changed so make sure you are informed about when your games are.
Comanche have a bye this round.

Could all players make sure they take all rubbish with them on Saturday as SCNA hosts their annual junior rep carnival on Sunday and we need to leave the courts clean and ready for the guest teams coming to play. Good luck to all our players and officials involved in the day.
As the weather starts to turn cold, just a reminder that players should be wearing layers to training and that includes track pants. It gets very cold quickly down at the courts once the sun goes down.
See you at the courts.

Training resumes Wednesday 30 April

Just a reminder to everyone that training resumes this afternoon and will be on every Wednesday until the next term break (July 4).

Seniors – the dress has arrived (yeah) so if you haven’t paid then bring $75 tonight.

See you tonight
Ruth

Weather update

It is just drizzling, so bring your umbrella. No cancellations at this stage and the girls are having great fun playing.

Week 2 – Sat 5 April

Time to dig out the warm jacket and big umbrella, tomorrow might be damp. While Bullants’ preference is to always try and get a game in, parents have the final say in whether they allow their child to play when it is raining. The courts are all weather courts and we advise the girls to slow the play down to minimise incidents. As a rule, always come to the courts prepared to play. Any decision to cancel will be last minute. My experience has been that the girls love playing in the rain, it’s just the parents who find it difficult. Please have a discussion with your team coach if you are worried.

Parking – the best place is in the King St carpark. Makin place is too congested and the carpark inside the courts is reserved for SCNA council members.

Sideline coaches – I admit it is hard not to shout out directions to your child from the sideline…I have been guilty of it in the past myself! However I have told the players that for the one hour that they are playing they only have to listen to the coach, the umpire and their team mates. So please try hard to hold it in, it confuses the players (especially the littlies) if they hear you giving them directions also. If you find you really can’t hold it in, we are looking for coaches for two of our senior teams, they would appreciate your direction.

Grading continues for juniors and inters tomorrow and Cree have a week off as the team they are due to play have forfeited.

Training WILL be held next Wednesday but we will break for the school holidays.

See you at the courts.
