All games cancelled for the rest of the day

Too cold and wet

From the Bullants Committee

The Bullants committee are looking for a few volunteers to coordinate two events.
1. BBQ – Bullants will run the SCNA BBQ on Saturday 30 August. We use the profits from the BBQ to fund our end of season Celebration or purchase new equipment. The coordinator will need to generate/maintain a list of volunteers and ensure the BBQ runs smoothly on the day.
2. Summer competition – Summer comp runs over 8 Wednesday evenings from October 15. The summer comp coordinator will collect all Bullants registrations and place players into teams; work with the treasurer to ensure all fees are collected; work with the umpire coordinator to ensure all games are covered. This role is supported by the Bullants committee throughout the season.
Please email us at bullantsnetball@gmail.com to volunteer for either of these roles.

AGM
The Bullants Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 24 September, immediately following our end of season party. Key roles need to be filled to ensure the club can continue and many hands make light work. There are a few of us who have kept the club going and it would be great to have some new volunteers onboard so please consider joining the Bullants team. All positions on the committee will be declared vacant at the AGM. We will say goodbye to our Treasurer Maree who has worked so hard over the last few years, so we will need a treasurer to move forward. If you think you might be able to fill this role now is the time to chat to Maree and she can share her wisdom before she goes. Brittany our umpire coordinator is also vacating her role as she is leaving Canberra next year to start a new adventure.

Uniform
The roll out of the Bullants dress has been a great success and the senior and Inters 1 players look great in them. The enthusiasm of the players has been such that we have had the rest of the Inters players begging to be able to wear the dress also. So we have decided to make the dress available to all inters from next year. The approximate cost is $85. We will make available a system for second hand uniform sales.

Cheers
Ruth

Saturday 28 June update

The weather looks as though it is going to be very wintery but hopefully it won’t impact too much on our games this week.
Inters 1/2 are playing a double round this week with games at 12 pm and 1 pm. Arapaho has the bye in the 1 pm time slot.
Seniors Div 1 Mohicans, your game will be at 3:15 pm this week.

Training cancelled tonight

I have just arrived at the courts and it is blowing a gale, cold and looks like the rain is about to come down so we will cancel tonight. Sorry for the late notice

A Shout out to our awesome umpires

We have had two of our umpires receive higher accreditation in the last few weeks.
Nicole Duck gained her B badge – Nicola is a regular umpire for State League games and her badging is a recognition of all the hard work she has put in over the years.
Zoe Caton gained her C badge – Zoe is a super umpire for Bullants and she has been recognised for the efforts she has put in to improve her skills.

We have 7 Inters players undertaking the junior umpire scheme. They are growing in confidence each week.

Thanks to all the parents out there supporting our umpires. It is a tough job but we wouldn’t be playing without them.

Saturday June 14 games

After our sleep in last weekend, netball is back this week. There has been some regrading of teams in the senior and inters divisions so please make sure you check the draw each week. The Bullants teams mostly affected are Comanche, Arapaho and Mohicans.

Chiefs have the bye this week.

SCNA is looking for an Office Administrator. Details at the SCNA website if you are interested http://southcanberranetball.sportzvault.com

Saturday 24 May

Our teams are really coming together as the season progresses. It has been great to see the development of skill and confidence has evolved over the first half of the season.
This week Arapaho have the bye and Kiowa have canteen duty.

Good luck to our players traveling to Wagga for the rep carnival on Sunday, we hope you have a fun day.

SCNA senior state league players will be holding a skills clinic on Sunday June 1 at the Deakin netball courts.
10 am – 12pm: 11 & 12 year olds
12:30 – 2:30 pm: 13, 14 & 15 year olds
Cost: $5
Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Netball Sat 17 May

This Saturday sees Juniors Div 2 and Inters Div 3 & 4 playing split rounds. These teams will play two half games. Split rounds are necessary to ensure that at the end of the season all teams have played each other twice. There will be another split round draw on June 24.

Junior Umpiring Scheme
The JUS starts this weekend at 9 am. If you are in Inters or Seniors and would like to learn how to umpire, then it is not too late to sign up. Come on down to the pavilion at 9 am and we can get you sorted.

Parents are reminded that as the junior umpires begin their course they will be umpiring in the junior time slots. Please be supportive of them…they will be nervous, they will make mistakes however they are keen and without umpires we can’t play. These young girls can be intimidated very easily by negative side line comments so let’s keep it positive. Of course this goes for all of our umpires too…it’s a tough gig umpiring, let’s show our appreciation to our umpires.

Skills clinic
The SCNA state league players will be running a skills clinic for players 11 – 15 years old on June 1 at the Deakin netball courts. Cost $5 More information can be found at the SCNA website. http://southcanberranetball.sportzvault.com

Looking forward to the sunshine tomorrow (fingers crossed)
See you at the courts
