No summer comp this week – we are going to cheer for the Diamonds

Just a reminder there is no Wednesday summer comp game this week. I hope you managed to get some tickets to come and watch the Diamonds play beat England. If not, the game will be broadcast on SBS 2 at 7:00 pm. Keep an eye out for some of our Bullants team. A big thanks to Emma who entered Bullants into the Foxtel Diamonds for Dreams competition. We were chosen as the winning club and will benefit from some great rewards depending on how many goals the Diamonds score…GO DIAMONDS!

Summer Netball

The summer season of netball is about to start.  Welcome back and if you are new to  Bullants Netball Club we hope you enjoy playing with us.  The Summer netball season is a social one and it is a great time to introduce netball to new players.  Teams generally don’t have coaches and we rely on parents to help get the girls on and off the court (thanks to those parents who have volunteered to take on this role).  Team kit bags will be provided and juniors and Inters division will be provided with umpires.  Our teams have now been finalised and everyone who signed up to play has been allocated a team. So here are some details that you will need for the next few weeks.

Games start this Wednesday, 15 October 2014.  The competition runs for 8 Wednesdays.  NOTE: There will be NO GAME on Wednesday, 22 October as the Australian Diamonds are playing England at the AIS and we want to give our players and officials an opportunity to go and cheer for the Diamonds! (Tickets through Ticketek).   The final week will be Wednesday, 10 December 2014.  See below for game times.

Paperwork and Fees

Please be at the courts at least 30 minutes before the game to finalise any paperwork and payments. We will set up a table on Grass Court 9 so come and check in with us there.  SCNA Summer Pack 2014-Player form (link) needs to be submitted on Wednesday (to Bullants NOT SCNA) before the game.
Fees are determined on whether the player has played in the Winter Competition (any district).  If this is you please pay the Affliated fee.  If you haven’t played netball this year then you will need to pay the Non-affliated fee (this will ensure you are covered by insurance).

Competition Game time Fees (AFFILIATED) Fees (NON affiliated)
Prep Net (born 2008-2009) & Net-Set-Go ‘Set’ (born 2005-2007) 5:30-6:30pm $60.00 $100.00
Juniors (born 2002-2004) 5:30-6:30pm $70.00 $115.00
Intermediates (born 1999-2001) 6:30-7:30pm $75.00 $120.00
Seniors (born 1998 or before) 7:30-8:30pm $80.00 $125.00
We can accept cash or cheque (made out to Bullants Netball Club) on Wednesday night or prepay by Direct debit to our account:
BSB: 062-905
ACC number: 00902761
Account name: Bullants Netball Club Incorporated
(put players initial and surname in the reference box eg. RSmith)
Uniform:
Black shorts/skirt and white shirt/Bullants tshirt. We don’t require our summer players to buy a club tshirt but we will have them for sale ($40).

Parking:

The courts are located on Makin Place, Deakin however the carpark within the courts is reserved for club officials and disabled access. Makin Place is a bit of a nightmare especially if there is touch football at the same time so I would avoid the area. The best parking spot is in the King St Car park then walk down to the grass courts and across to the pavillion (stop off and see us on Grass Court 9).

Wet weather
The website https://bullantsnetball.wordpress.com is the place where any wet weather cancellations will be announced.  Please click the ‘follow’ link in the bottom right of the page and you will be emailed important announcements as they are posted.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

Players selected in the Senior State-League program will form the basis for the SCNA Division 1, 2, & 3 teams to compete in the ACT State league competition from March 2015 – July 2015.
Players successfully selected will be expected to train at least once a week. Venue, day and time to be confirmed.
Before trialling Players and Parents must consider the following:

  1. Training is compulsory – injured/sick players are still expected to attend training unless they are unable to leave their beds/house.
  2. Players are required to wear the SCNA A-Line Dress ($70), socks ($8) + Hoodie ($60) + SCNA Tracksuit pants (optional $60). A warm up shirt will be provided to players, if the player doesn’t already have one.

Coaching
The Coaching team for the three state league teams has not been finalised at this time. All details will be provided as soon as arrangements are confirmed.

Trials
Trials will be held at the AIS Netball Courts:
Sunday 19 October 2.30-4.30pm, Courts 4 and 5 and Sunday 26 October 12.30-2.30pm, Courts 4 and 5.

Cost
Costs are not yet finalised but a playing fee will be required to be paid per player. This fee will cover competition entry fees, coach fees, equipment, and training venue costs. The 2014 fees were between $250 and $300 depending on where teams trained.

Forms
Registration forms are available to download from the SCNA website (please note if you participated in SCNA U19’s competition or played for SCNA Seniors in 2014 you do not need to complete these forms, if your details have changed at all please email the office with an update) need to be emailed to scna_act@internode.on.net by Friday 15 October.

Player Contribution
In addition to the trial information all players wanting to play for SCNA need to understand and commit to assisting or giving back to the district in some way.  Following are a number of options for players to consider on how they can contribute to SCNA.
1: Play at SCNA on a Saturday during the 2015 Winter Competition.
2: Coach a SCNA Junior Representative team: The Junior Representative season runs from selections in Feb to championships in August, with the commitment of one training a week and approximately 4 carnivals. Players who choose to coach a Junior Rep team will be paid approximately $300 at the end of the junior rep season.
3: Umpire Junior Representative Teams: Umpire at least two Junior Representative Carnivals throughout the season. Umpires will be paid approximately $10 a game.
4: SCNA Winter Competition Senior Chair (Executive Position): SCNA cannot run a winter competition without a Senior Chair. The Senior Chair is required to be here every Saturday during the senior time slot to help run that competition.
5: Coaching Clinics: Run a coaching clinic during the 2015 Junior Representative season for the SCNA Junior Representative Players, focusing on a specific area. E.g. Shooting, Circle Defence, fitness etc.
6:Hold a position on the SCNA Executive: SCNA requires the support of volunteers to operate and seeks the support of all interested players, parents and supporters. The Executive meet monthly from February to November with the occasional additional meeting. Depending on the role held will determine the amount of time required to support the role.
7: Assist with the Administration of the Junior Rep Program: The junior program always needs people to help sort out uniforms, prepare equipment bags, coordinate information notes etc.
8: Assist with the BBQ on a Saturday morning 3 times during the year.

If you have any questions about any of the roles or the senior representative program, please contact the SCNA office on scna_act@internode.on.net and your email will be forwarded to the appropriate person.
