Training this afternoon is on

Just a reminder that training is on as usual this afternoon even though there is no game on the weekend.

The SCNA Annual General Meeting is also on this evening at 7:30 pm in the pavilion. Bullants needs to provide a couple of representatives to all SCNA council meetings and failure to do this will result in a 5 point loss to all our teams in the following round of netball. If you could attend on our behalf please let me know bullantsnetball@gmail.com

Enjoy your a Easter Break.

Round 2 – Saturday 28 March 2015

This week is Round 2 for NSG and Seniors. Grading continues for juniors and Inters ( the draws are on the SCNA website). Players need to be at the courts 30 mins before game time for warmup. ALL jewellery needs to be left at home and nails clipped so they don’t extend over the fingers.

Canteen duty: Comanche (11:50 – 1 pm)

Cherokee has a bye and Apache win on forfeit.

Thanks to the parents who helped out last week in the canteen, scoring and cheering and also to those who let the coaches do the coaching!

Just a reminder that if you forget to slip, slop, slap before coming to the courts then there is sunscreen available at the pavilion.

There will be training next week even though there is no game on the Easter weekend. Next Wednesday (1 April) is also the SCNA Annual General Meeting. Everyone is invited to attend and stand for a position on the SCNA Executive. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm

Let the Season begin

Bullants is going to have a big year this year with 17 teams taking the court.  It has taken a huge amount of organisation to get to this point and I thank the Bullants Team of Volunteers for getting us here.  We have arrived at the start of the season so here are a few details that you all should be aware of.
Code of conduct – SCNA has an extensive set of player, coach/official and parent Codes of Conduct. They are displayed on the noticeboard in the pavilion and dictate how we all conduct ourselves on or off the court. It was extremely disappointing to find out that some of our parents had already breached the code by being aggressive towards our volunteers sorting out the uniform last Wednesday (glitches happen but it was not their fault that you got your order in late or not at all).  There is absolutely no excuse for rude and aggressive behaviour especially to our volunteers, coaches and umpires.  Let’s not forget that we are all here for fun.

Coaches – We have a great coaching team this year.  We ask that you allow the coaches to do their job during game time (they will most likely stand on the opposite side of the court to you – please allow them to do this).  They are the only ones to give the players instruction while on the court.  Yes, it is extremely tough to abstain from shouting out to your child to move down the court or to mark your player but it can also be very confusing if they are listening to you and we have given them an alternative instruction.  If you can’t hold in your inner coach, then I still have a Senior team looking for a coach who might benefit from your words of wisdom.  We do however need parents to be our cheerleaders, scorers and canteen and bbq assistants.

Uniform – We are still waiting on the supplier who is extremely busy at this time of year.  Until the uniform arrives please wear black skirt and white or club tshirt.  We will have some uniform available for pick up on Saturday but please note we also coach, umpire and coordinate at the District level so we may be busy.

Managers – We have 17 teams and only two of those teams have a manager.  We rely on parents to help out in little ways such as organising scoring, working in the canteen and BBQ etc.  Being a manager is not a difficult job…just some Saturday organisation.  Please consider putting up your hand for this job especially if you haven’t contributed to the Bullants community before.

The Draw – Please make sure you check the draw regularly.  Sometimes last minute changes are made. You can find it at http://scna.act.netball.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/draw.aspx?entityid=39129  Currently the NSG and Seniors are listed fixtures but Juniors and Inters grading draws are in the News Section of the SCNA website (go to the link above and click the home button).
Game times:  NSG Set – 9:00am – 9:50am; Juniors grading – 10am – 11:50 am; Inters grading – 12pm – 1:50pm; Seniors 1 & 3 – 2pm – 3:10pm; Seniors 2 – 3:15pm – 4:30pm.
Be prepared and on time ready to start warming up about 30 minutes before your game.  There is only a very small time frame between games and players need to move off the court quickly after a game so that the next game can begin. Warm up this year will be on the grass courts.

Jewelry and fingernails – All jewelry needs to be removed and nails clipped before arriving at the courts please.  NO, Earrings can not be taped!

Parking – The best place is in the King Street Carpark; the Pavilion carpark is for SCNA Council and Executive members only and Disabled parking, and Makin Place can get very congested.

Dogs – All ACT Sports grounds are DOG FREE ZONES.  This includes the pavilion area and the grass courts.  Sorry but you need to leave your dogs at home.

Fees – All outstanding payments need to be finalised please.  This ensures you are covered by insurance.

CANTEEN THIS WEEK – Chinook and Potawatomie 9am – 10 am; Cree 1:50-3pm  (two week roster on SCNA website; full roster will go up after the grading rounds).

Kit bags – Coaches, the team kit bags are ready for pick up in the umpires room.  Please check the team name inside the bag before taking it.  Inters/ Seniors, we are still waiting on some of the stick on patches from the supplier, we have given you bibs until they arrive.

Umpires – Don’t forget to sign the sheet in the umpires room

See you at the courts

Wednesday’s training will be on the grass

The SCNA hard courts are being repaired this week and as such will be closed on Wednesday. Juniors and inters will train on the grass courts at the regular time. Seniors are welcome to come down earlier for some fitness and uniform pickup but as it will be getting dark and there are no lights on the grass, there will be no formal training for you. As a result the MAKIN PLACE entrance will be closed and all players need to enter via the King St carpark.

Uniform pick up – if you have ordered uniform please check on Wednesday to see if it has arrived. The majority of our orders will be filled. It will be not possible to pick up on Saturday as we are busy with coaching commitments. Please ensure your uniform has been paid for before pick up.

MOST uniform has arrived

We are still waiting for some uniform to arrive but If you got your uniform order in before the cut off then you should be able to pick up on Wednesday. Before you can pick up you need to have paid in full. Make sure your uniform payment is made by Monday so that we can check it off by Wednesday.

Weekly update

Registrations
We have had a huge response to registration this year and we will field 17 teams; 4 more than last year…gosh!!  There are only a few places left on selected teams and after this week we will close off registrations completely.  If you haven’t done your online registration you may miss out on being placed in a team.

Team Selection
Attendance at training is essential each week especially when we are trying to sort out teams. It is not an easy task placing players in teams but our selectors have been working hard. Many factors influence selections, one of which is that players develop at different rates, which is why teams change from year to year.   We aim to match players by ability to ensure everyone has a chance to excel and enjoy the game.  We will run a few combinations this week at training and tweak teams where necessary and then all players will be emailed.  The SCNA district grading carnival is on Saturday 21 & 28 March.  More details will be made available closer to the day but players need to be available at the following times: Juniors 10 am – 12 pm; Inters 12 pm – 2 pm.

Payments
Thank you to those of you who have made payments…keep them coming.  We understand the pressures on families at this time of year and if needed we can arrange payment plans.  Please email Ruth at bullantsnetball@gmail.com if you would like to access this option.  You will need to pay a minimum of $55 deposit for fees to cover player insurance and full payment will need to be received by 2 May 2015.  Uniform needs to be paid in full before pickup (which we anticipate to be in a few weeks).

Registration, grading and uniform

Grading continues this Wednesday and it is really important that the online registration has been completed.  We had a number of players last week who turned up and hadn’t completed their registration.  For insurance purposes we need players registered on the system to be able to take the court.  Additionally it is hard for us to know how many team officials and teams we need if our registrations aren’t complete.  You will need the player login and password that was provided several weeks ago.  Please let me know if you need your login resent by emailing me at  bullantsnetball@gmail.com
Please register at the following links:
NetSetGo SET  or Juniors, Inters, Seniors

UNIFORM- We have a number of Inters and Seniors players that should have ordered a dress but haven’t yet.  Please finalise your order by Wednesday or else supply is not guaranteed.

Regards,
Ruth

Grading & Last chance uniform

Wednesday 18 Feb sees the start of our grading sessions.  We will run grading over a few weeks as some players have school commitments. Please arrive a few minutes early so we are ready to start on time.
NSG and Juniors: 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Inters: 6:30-7:30 pm
Seniors: 7:30-8:30 pm
Please make sure you have finalised your online registration.

All uniform orders must be finalised by tomorrow evening.  Our uniform is custom made and we need to get orders in so that we can ensure everyone is ready for the start of the season.

Uniform Page update

The UNIFORM page has been updated and now includes an order form to help us manage orders.  We will be having a Try On afternoon THIS Wednesday at the courts, 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  All players needing uniform, especially the club dress (Inters and Seniors) will need to attend this session as the sizing on all items is NOT standard.

Socks – We now have Bullants Socks.  They are an optional uniform item (but will look totally awesome!)

Second hand uniform
Donations – If you are happy to donate your uniform items then please bring them into the pavilion and we will happily rehouse them.
For Sale – If you would like to sell your uniform, please place an advertisement  on the notice board outside the umpires room. Include description, price and contact details.

Keep those registrations coming.  Make sure you register your child in the correct age group.  Visit the COMPETITION page for details.
