Saturday 9 May

Bullants will be well represented in the Junior Umpire Scheme ( JUS ) that starts  this weekend. Around 10 Inters players will spend an hour each Saturday learning umpiring theory, and then will put the theory into practice umpiring in the junior time slots.  All players and parents are asked to be patient with our junior umpires as they begin their journey.  We absolutely depend on these girls coming through the system and we need your support to support them.

Canteen duty this Saturday for Kiowa 12:50-2pm

Weather watch 2 May

Saturday 2 May – All games are going ahead at this stage as the rain is very light. Please come to the courts ready to play as a decision to cancel will only be made immediately before the round starts. The two NSG Set games scheduled for the grass courts will be moved onto the hard courts in a shared round with two other teams (half game). Will update if there are any changes.

Canteen duty: Arapaho 12:50pm – 2pm

Managers – most teams are still uncovered. Please let us know on bullantsnetball@gmail.com if you can help out.

This week we welcome the NSG Net program to SCNA. This 10 week program is Netball Australia’s official beginners program targeted to 5-7 year olds. We start at 10am on court 2. If you have a child who would like to start netball but haven’t enrolled, pop on down and we will squeeze you in.

Big thanks to Annette who attended the SCNA Council meeting on our behalf on Wednesday evening…she did this while coaching a 2 teams. As a result we will not lose competition points. However our coaches should not have to do this on top of their club coaching commitment. As of the next meeting on the first Wednesday in June, council meetings will start at 6:30 pm. If you are a parent of an Inters player maybe you could volunteer to attend the meeting as our representative while your child trains. Please email us if you are able to fulfil this important role.

This Sunday SCNA hosts their representative carnival. Good luck to all our Bullants players representing our district. Players and parents are asked to take their rubbish with them on Saturday so that the courts are looking great for Sunday.

The Lost property box is full to overflowing. Any jumpers etc that I pick up at training end up there. There are many expensive school jumpers in the box. Please make sure all clothing is labelled.

See you on Saturday

Time to get back into netball

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break. It was great to see our players take advantage of the SCNA training session with NSW Swifts player Susan Petit during the break.

Training resumes tonight. As the weather has taken a turn towards winter players need to come to training dressed appropriately. Layers work best and leggings/skins or track pants should be replacing shorts, as once the sun goes down it is very chilly at the courts.

Uniform – Our back order of dresses has arrived and these need to be paid for before pick up. We are having some supply problems with tshirts so if you are still waiting on a tshirt come and chat after juniors training tonight. Second hand tshirts are needed so if you would like to donate or sell, please bring them in. Some hoodies are still on back order.

Council meeting – there is an SCNA council meeting at the pavilion tonight at 7:30 pm and we need a representative to attend. Failure to provide a representative will result in a 5 point loss to all our teams this round. There will be a guest speaker from the Asthma Foundation providing training in all things Asthma so anyone who is interested is welcome. Please let me know bullantsnetball@gmail.com if you can attend.

What to do in the holiday break

This Wednesday training is just for the coaches!  Our Coach the Coach session runs from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.  Training will resume for all players on Wednesday 29 April 2015.  While we have a little break for the school holidays you can still be involved in netball.  SCNA is once again hosting the SP Clinics in the holidays – Monday 20 April 2015.
Clinic 1: 10-13 year olds 2:30-4:30 pm
Clinic 2: 14+ year old 5:00-6:30 pm

Sign up by 12 April at http://spnetball.com/clinics/

Training this afternoon is on

Just a reminder that training is on as usual this afternoon even though there is no game on the weekend.

The SCNA Annual General Meeting is also on this evening at 7:30 pm in the pavilion. Bullants needs to provide a couple of representatives to all SCNA council meetings and failure to do this will result in a 5 point loss to all our teams in the following round of netball. If you could attend on our behalf please let me know bullantsnetball@gmail.com

Enjoy your a Easter Break.

Round 2 – Saturday 28 March 2015

This week is Round 2 for NSG and Seniors. Grading continues for juniors and Inters ( the draws are on the SCNA website). Players need to be at the courts 30 mins before game time for warmup. ALL jewellery needs to be left at home and nails clipped so they don’t extend over the fingers.

Canteen duty: Comanche (11:50 – 1 pm)

Cherokee has a bye and Apache win on forfeit.

Thanks to the parents who helped out last week in the canteen, scoring and cheering and also to those who let the coaches do the coaching!

Just a reminder that if you forget to slip, slop, slap before coming to the courts then there is sunscreen available at the pavilion.

There will be training next week even though there is no game on the Easter weekend. Next Wednesday (1 April) is also the SCNA Annual General Meeting. Everyone is invited to attend and stand for a position on the SCNA Executive. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm

Let the Season begin

Bullants is going to have a big year this year with 17 teams taking the court.  It has taken a huge amount of organisation to get to this point and I thank the Bullants Team of Volunteers for getting us here.  We have arrived at the start of the season so here are a few details that you all should be aware of.
Code of conduct – SCNA has an extensive set of player, coach/official and parent Codes of Conduct. They are displayed on the noticeboard in the pavilion and dictate how we all conduct ourselves on or off the court. It was extremely disappointing to find out that some of our parents had already breached the code by being aggressive towards our volunteers sorting out the uniform last Wednesday (glitches happen but it was not their fault that you got your order in late or not at all).  There is absolutely no excuse for rude and aggressive behaviour especially to our volunteers, coaches and umpires.  Let’s not forget that we are all here for fun.

Coaches – We have a great coaching team this year.  We ask that you allow the coaches to do their job during game time (they will most likely stand on the opposite side of the court to you – please allow them to do this).  They are the only ones to give the players instruction while on the court.  Yes, it is extremely tough to abstain from shouting out to your child to move down the court or to mark your player but it can also be very confusing if they are listening to you and we have given them an alternative instruction.  If you can’t hold in your inner coach, then I still have a Senior team looking for a coach who might benefit from your words of wisdom.  We do however need parents to be our cheerleaders, scorers and canteen and bbq assistants.

Uniform – We are still waiting on the supplier who is extremely busy at this time of year.  Until the uniform arrives please wear black skirt and white or club tshirt.  We will have some uniform available for pick up on Saturday but please note we also coach, umpire and coordinate at the District level so we may be busy.

Managers – We have 17 teams and only two of those teams have a manager.  We rely on parents to help out in little ways such as organising scoring, working in the canteen and BBQ etc.  Being a manager is not a difficult job…just some Saturday organisation.  Please consider putting up your hand for this job especially if you haven’t contributed to the Bullants community before.

The Draw – Please make sure you check the draw regularly.  Sometimes last minute changes are made. You can find it at http://scna.act.netball.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/draw.aspx?entityid=39129  Currently the NSG and Seniors are listed fixtures but Juniors and Inters grading draws are in the News Section of the SCNA website (go to the link above and click the home button).
Game times:  NSG Set – 9:00am – 9:50am; Juniors grading – 10am – 11:50 am; Inters grading – 12pm – 1:50pm; Seniors 1 & 3 – 2pm – 3:10pm; Seniors 2 – 3:15pm – 4:30pm.
Be prepared and on time ready to start warming up about 30 minutes before your game.  There is only a very small time frame between games and players need to move off the court quickly after a game so that the next game can begin. Warm up this year will be on the grass courts.

Jewelry and fingernails – All jewelry needs to be removed and nails clipped before arriving at the courts please.  NO, Earrings can not be taped!

Parking – The best place is in the King Street Carpark; the Pavilion carpark is for SCNA Council and Executive members only and Disabled parking, and Makin Place can get very congested.

Dogs – All ACT Sports grounds are DOG FREE ZONES.  This includes the pavilion area and the grass courts.  Sorry but you need to leave your dogs at home.

Fees – All outstanding payments need to be finalised please.  This ensures you are covered by insurance.

CANTEEN THIS WEEK – Chinook and Potawatomie 9am – 10 am; Cree 1:50-3pm  (two week roster on SCNA website; full roster will go up after the grading rounds).

Kit bags – Coaches, the team kit bags are ready for pick up in the umpires room.  Please check the team name inside the bag before taking it.  Inters/ Seniors, we are still waiting on some of the stick on patches from the supplier, we have given you bibs until they arrive.

Umpires – Don’t forget to sign the sheet in the umpires room

Got a question…email bullantsnetball@gmail.com

See you at the courts

Wednesday’s training will be on the grass

The SCNA hard courts are being repaired this week and as such will be closed on Wednesday. Juniors and inters will train on the grass courts at the regular time. Seniors are welcome to come down earlier for some fitness and uniform pickup but as it will be getting dark and there are no lights on the grass, there will be no formal training for you. As a result the MAKIN PLACE entrance will be closed and all players need to enter via the King St carpark.

Uniform pick up – if you have ordered uniform please check on Wednesday to see if it has arrived. The majority of our orders will be filled. It will be not possible to pick up on Saturday as we are busy with coaching commitments. Please ensure your uniform has been paid for before pick up.

MOST uniform has arrived

We are still waiting for some uniform to arrive but If you got your uniform order in before the cut off then you should be able to pick up on Wednesday. Before you can pick up you need to have paid in full. Make sure your uniform payment is made by Monday so that we can check it off by Wednesday.
