Saturday games – 20 May

Lots happening down at SCNA this weekend.

NetSetGo players – there is a competition to win tickets to the ACT Darters home game on Sunday 29 May at 1 pm at SolarHub Netball ACT stadium in Lyneham.  Pop up to the window on Saturday and get your lucky number for a chance to win.  You will need to bring your best cheer, pinkness and a parent to the game.

SCNA Strategic plan – The SCNA has begun the process of reviewing the current Strategic plan and are seeking your input.  This week we will be focusing on our Vision and Mission statements.  Come and have your say on what you would like netball at SCNA to look like as we move forward.

BYE – Inters 2 Kiowa have the bye this week

Canteen – Chiefs are on canteen duty

Congratulations – Well done to all the Bullants who trialed for the ACT U 15s squad.  Congratulations to Eloise Millington and Lauren Thomas who made the team.  They will pop over to Adelaide in July to compete.

Goodluck – to the Bullants players, coaches and umpires competing this weekend in the BNA Rep carnival.

Saturday games – 14 May

Happy National Volunteers Week
We would like to acknowledge all those who help out getting the players on the court both at our club level and at the District (SCNA) level.  We have some awesome volunteers at Bullants including our committee, coaches, managers, scorers, bbq and canteen helpers.  If you haven’t felt that feel good sense of community that volunteering brings then come and join us as many hands makes it easier for all of us.
Please make sure you say THANK YOU to a Bullants volunteer this weekend, they will appreciate it 🙂

We have well and truly settled into the season now.  Just a reminder as the weather starts to get chillier to wear warm clothing (layers) to training.  Once the sun goes down it turns cold very quickly down at Deakin. Hopefully the new lights will be fully functional for training to resume next Wednesday.

The week at netball
NSG SET – please check your draws as they have changed.  The bye is now in Div 2 as a team has moved divisions.

Bye – Juniors Div 1 Mohicans

Canteen – Comanche and Chickasaw.  The canteen roster is up on the SCNA website.

REMINDER: No dogs at the courts please.  No Jewellery unless it is a medical bracelet (taped) or a FLAT wedding band(taped).  No you can’t tape earrings and nose rings they MUST be removed.  Thank you for your support with this.

Bullants training cancelled – Wed 11 May

We have to cancel training this week as the SCNA lighting upgrade needs to be finalised tomorrow night and we can’t be there while they do it.  They had hoped to have it finished by Tuesday but the rain slowed them down.  So we will see you on Saturday and then under new lights next Wednesday.

Thanks BBQ helpers

As usual our Bullants community pulled through.  Thank you to all our cookers and servers today. #awesomevolunteers #communityspirit

BBQ help

At the moment we only have 5 volunteers for the BBQ tomorrow (thank you Maria, Toni, Lauren, Jenny and Perdi). Clearly we need more, in fact it would be great to have too many then each shift is short.  The 10:45 time slot is looking healthy but the others including set up is not looking so good.  So help us out here by going to http://goo.gl/forms/Ty3GPEyHJs

Thank you in anticipation.

Saturday netball is back and we are cooking the snags

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Saturday netball and this weekend Bullants will be running the BBQ; yes, I know its short notice but we are an awesome community who can pull it together.  If you are new to the club this would be a great way to meet some other Bullants families.  Please CLICK ON THIS LINK http://goo.gl/forms/0a2KMaeAzQ to sign up for a time slot, the more helpers the less pressure it is on everyone.

Byes: Juniors 4 – Sioux and Inters 2 Dakota (our brand new team of awesomeness)

Wet weather: As per usual any decision to cancel will not be made until the last moment (unless of course it is pouring and there is ongoing thunder and lightning).  All notifications will be on the SCNA website (http://scna.act.netball.com.au)  FIRST then I will make it happen at the Bullants level.  Remember we aim to play and if it is raining in one part of Canberra doesn’t mean it is raining in Deakin.  Also our courts are an all weather surface so be prepared to play.

The SCNA rep carnival will be held on Sunday.  Good luck to all our Bullants girls playing, coaching and umpiring on the day.  Please make sure you take all your rubbish with you on Saturday so the courts are looking neat and tidy for Sunday.

Uniform:  If anyone took a uniform on Wednesday that DIDN’T belong to them please return it as it is needed for the players who ordered it! We are a non profit group and can’t afford to hold large stocks of uniform and as such our orders are based on player orders.

Uniform pick up at training tonight

Training resumes tonight.  Please make sure you pick up uniform tonight as we are unable to hand it out on Saturday.  All orders have been packed that were ordered up until last Wednesday.

Lost wallet

URGENT – If anyone happened upon a white and pink wallet at training last Wednesday could you please email to let us know bullantsnetball@gmail.com

Super coaches

Congratulations to the 5 Bullants coaches who spent 8 hours today gaining their level 1  (Development) coaching qualification.  They are well on the way to becoming the next Lisa Alexander.  Take a bow Bec, Emma, Jade, Kristen and Nat. If you are interested in Netball Australia’s coaching pathways you can read all about it http://netball.com.au/get-involved/coaching/coaching-accreditation/

Bullants are happy to support any person who would like to start their coaching qualification.  The Foundation coaching course is now offered online and as with previous years we will refund 50% of the course fee on completion of the course.  To sign up to the Foundation Coaching course visit this webpage http://netball.com.au/get-involved/coaching/accreditation-2/

Great Start to the Season!

Thankyou

Thankyou to everyone who has helped us have a fantastic start to the season, we are up and running and have finally managed to sort out all our teams as we head into the school holiday break. We are still looking for some team managers and Div 1 umpires for the remainder of the season so if you would like to help out send us an email.

Training

As many of our cohort will be away this week and a fair number of our Bullants players and coaches heading to New Zealand (good luck and enjoy girls!) we will have training for our NSG and Juniors only. If any other team really wants to train, they can come between 5.30 and 6.30 to train at the same time.

Parents and Helpers

Just a reminder to all our wonderful parents to abide by the SCNA Code of Conduct and be a positive influence for our players and officials. After the break we will be introducing our Foundation Umpires into the Junior timeslot where they will be coached and mentored and we need to remember to be supportive of these new umpires as they gain new skills. While we LOVE cheering, please be mindful that your over enthusiastic comments can sometimes be misconstrued by the opposition.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our lovely Coaching Coordinator and Kiowa coach Meg Weston who recently got married. We wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness and wonderful memories.

SCNA AGM

SCNA are holding their AGM this Wednesday 7.00pm, all positions will be declared vacant. If you would like to contribute to the running of the district, particularly anyone who would consider being Treasurer, please head along on Wednesday.

Lastly, have a great break and we will see you all back at the courts for training on the 27th April.
