What a season!!

Congratulations to the 15 Bullants teams who competed across all divisions.  We hope you have had a great season.  Of the 11 teams eligible for finals, 7 will take the court this weekend in the semi finals, an excellent result for our club.  Good luck players, we know you will represent Bullants well.

A few reminders about the finals series:

GAME TIMES ARE DIFFERENT FOR FINALS:

Juniors – 10:30 am for all divisions
Inters 1 & 3 – 1 pm this week.  Next week game times for all Inters will be 12 pm

There will be no draws, we will play until we have a result.

Court time:  This is the serious stage of the season and coaches will be focusing on achieving a win for their team. As per our player policy – Players of all divisions who make the finals rounds (semi, preliminary and grand finals) will be played at the discretion of the coach.  All players are guaranteed two quarters (Divisions 3 & 4) and one quarter (Divisions 1 & 2) of court time per game.

Players: Come to the courts GAME READY with plenty of time to warm up.  You need to take the court at the 30 second mark to ensure the game starts on time.  Remember good sportsmanship is remembered and valued long after the game has ended.  Play with passion and integrity and you are a winner regardless of the result.  You’ve GOT THIS!!

Scorers: We need one scorer for each team to be on the scoring bench to work collaboratively with the other scorer.  Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who take on this role.

Spectators:  all spectators need to be on the opposite side of the court to the players bench.  Please let the coaches do their thing, be respectful of the umpires and the opposition.  Cheer wildly when we score, but don’t forget to acknowledge great play from the opposition.  Remember, the world doesn’t end if our teams don’t win, support your child with encouragement even in defeat.

Go Bullants!!!!

Urgent – Volunteers Needed

We really need a few more volunteers – especially for the morning sessions on the BBQ tomorrow.

Please sign up using the link below. No experience is necessary!

Volunteers Needed on BBQ this Saturday

Dear Bullants Families,

This week it is Bullant’s turn to run the SCNA BBQ. This is a great fundraising activity and an opportunity for volunteers to help the club.

We need volunteers in different shifts from 8.15pm to 1.15pm.

Please sign up using the link below. No experience is necessary!

End of season is approachin

With the end of season approaching there are a few administration items to arrange.

Team Photos

Could Team Managers please let us know which of the next two Saturdays is best for a team photo. For example, which week will have the most players available? Once you know, can you email bullantsnetball@gmail.com. Bernadette will be our trusty photographer and she would like teams to be at their designated courts 20 minutes before their game so she can get around to do photos. We then present the photos to the teams at the end of the year.

End of Winter Season Event

Mark it in your calendar – Wednesday 25 September 6pm will be our end of winter season event. We are going to hold the event at the courts this year. More information will be forthcoming.

Awards

We will be collecting input for the end of season ‘Player’s Player Awards’ shortly. Nomination slips will be provided to teams for players to fill in and awards provided at the end of season event.

Volunteers

The Bullants Netball Club is a volunteer organisation. We will be holding our AGM on 27 October, time and venue to be finalised. If you would like to be involved, even for just a small part of our activity, you would be most welcome. Drop us an email at bullantsnetball@gmail.com or talk to a committee member at the courts.

Summer/Twilight Season

The twilight season will be held on Monday nights this year, starting on 14 October. It is a great opportunity for all players – existing, new or those who have not played for a while – to get back on court and have fun. It runs over 8 weeks and takes all levels. We have had mixed teams with mums, kids, dads and brothers. So, consider your teams and keep an eye out for registration links on this blog.

Thank-you

Bullants Committee

The weekend is going to be cold

The weather is looking like it will be COLD – rain/snow – this weekend.

Please keep an eye on the SCNA website as any cancellation of play will be posted there.

Also please rug up. Remember that you are able to wear leggings and a black long sleeve shirt under your dress.

Message from SCNA

We have been asked to remind our Bullants community about court arrangements as we head into the end of the season and finals.
SCNA have positioned the silver and yellow bench seats on the allocated player/coach side of the courts to ensure that:
1. Players and coaches have somewhere to sit courtside
2. Coaches have space to do their coaching
3. Players can concentrate on their coach’s directions during the game.
We ask that parents sit/stand on the opposite side of the court (where there is more room between courts) to give coaches the space to do their job. This will be particularly important during the finals series, and parents are asked to respect any request from an SCNA executive to move to the side of the court opposite the silver benches to watch the game.
There are plastic chairs inside the pavilion which all parents are welcome to use courtside should they wish to sit and watch the game.
It also should be noted that umpires, umpire mentors (wearing the pink hi-viz vests) and officials will be directed to ask parents to stay off the court during the course of the game (including breaks).
It is also important that players stay with their coaches/team even if they are are a substitute for a quarter.  Parents, could you please support the club by reminding younger players of this arrangement.
Spectator code of conduct information is available around the courts, and we ask that all sideline support for teams is in the spirit of positive play.
Thank-you
Bullants Committee

Seniors social gathering – Wednesday 3 July

With training cancelled this week and being at the halfway point of the season the Bullants Committee have decided to have a social gathering for seniors and other senior volunteers (umpires, coaches, managers, scorers, supporters, etc).

For those who can make it, please join us from 6.30pm this Wednesday (3 July) at Fenwick Public House in Woden (R01/9 Bradley St, Phillip ACT 2606).

It will be a casual affair. Feel free to turn up for as long or as little as you like. They serve food so some of us will have dinner. Others will drop in for a drink and a chat.

Feel free to let others Bullants community members know, in case they are not linked to the blog/facebook.

Training this week

Well done everyone – we are just over halfway through the regular season.

There will be no training this week for all bullants teams as we have a three week gap due to school holidays and it is expected to be cold. Remember to keep up your fitness though.

Please let others know if they have not connected to the blog/facebook!

Our next game is on Saturday 27 July and training will be on Wednesday 24 July as usual.
