Managers

Each team requires a manager. This is a volunteer position that supports the coach to manage team administration and communication. No netball knowledge is needed, it is not time consuming and it is a fun way to support your team and get to know the netball community.

Team manager is an important role within the club and we want to provide you with some guidance on how to best support your team.  For those that have managed before, please take what you like from these suggestions.

Different coaches have different abilities/capacities to email and coordinate the team.  We suggest you make time with your coach(s) and work out how you can best coordinate together.  Remembering that some of our coaches are intermediate/cadet players themselves.

Roles of the manager:

  • Welcoming team (see link to welcome template below)
  • Check that all players (or parents) have signed up to the blog so they receive general club communications
  • Remind the team weekly of game time and court number, check if all players are available (See link to weekly template below)
    • If using email, remember to BCC addresses unless you have permission to share.
    • Or you could set up a WhatsApp group or similar. Once gain, ensure you have consent from all players and guardians before setting up.
  • Co-ordinate the roster for scoring. Rotating the scoring role court side is a great way of getting different parents/carers to see the game up close.
  • Coordinating rosters for Canteen Duty, BBQ duty and court duty that are allocated by SCNA.
    • These do not happen every week and you will be notified in advance of your times.
  • Contact parents/carers with updates regarding weather and cancellations of games/training
  • Help coaches monitor illness or people who may be away. 
  • Reminder to have earrings out at training and game day.
  • Reminder to have nails short
  • Arrange a thank you gift for the coaches at the end of the season. This is not obligatory, but a kind thought given all our coaches are volunteers.
