Round one round-up

Well round one is done and dusted and we had a real mixed bag of results; wins, loses, near misses and draws. Every team put in a fantastic effort…well done.  Sometimes it takes a few rounds to sort out whether teams are in the correct divisions as often we don’t know the caliber of the opposition teams when we submit the nominations.  Rest assured the SCNA Division chairs want an even competition as much as the teams do, so while some changes may need to be made it wont happen until round 4 or 5.

MANAGERS:  Each team needs a manager.  It is a simple task of coordinating; making sure a parent is available to score each week and organising a roster when your team is on canteen duty.  Please consider volunteering for this role and let me know by emailing bullantsnetball@gmail.com

TRAINING:  While there is no netball next weekend because of the Easter break, there WILL be training this Wednesday as usual.

SCNA Calendars:  The 2013 SCNA calendar is available here.  The Winter canteen roster is available here.

Cheers
Ruth Mahon (Bullants President)

2013 Competition draws and results

Netball Australia is in the process of upgrading the SCNA database and  websites.  At the moment the new database is not talking to the old website so for all game draws and results, please visit the Netball Australia Public Portal.  When the new website is live, the draws and results will also appear on the home page.  We will let you know when that occurs.

Please note:

Juniors:
We were short on numbers for Division 1 and 2, so have combined the two divisions for the season. This was to create more competition for the teams, so they weren’t playing the same teams week in, week out. Division 1 and 2 will then be split for finals:  ladder position 1-4 playing in Division 1 finals and ladder positions 5-8 playing in Division 2 finals.

Intermediates:
Division 1 and 2 have been combined for the first 4 rounds, and the draw will be done manually on a weekly basis. (This draw will not be displayed online)
The intermediate chair will then asses the division after round 4 to determine if it will stay a 10 team combined division or be split into 2 divisions (we are hoping to get the draws online after round 4).

Success at the Junior grading competition

Well done to Bullants Sioux, Shawnee, Cherokee and Arapaho for an excellent effort at the grading carnival this afternoon.  Looks like it is going to be a great season ahead.  A special thanks to our umpires on the day: Chloe, Meghan, Charlotte and Ashlin.

The 2013 season is up and running

As we are just about to launch into the 2013 Netball season there are a few things to bring to your attention.  We will finalise all teams this week and then we can send out coach contact numbers and ask for volunteers to fill the role of team managers.

  1. Training is every Wednesday evening, with the exception of the school holidays. Attending training is a compulsory part of being in a Bullants team.  If it is raining, please check the website as this is where we will publish cancellation notices.  These will be last minute so be prepared to train.  If you are unable to make it to training, please notify the team coach or manager (contact details will be available soon).
  2. Junior grading carnival is next Saturday, March 16th between 4-7pm.  Anyone in the juniors competition needs to be at the SCNA courts by 3:30pm.
  3. Round 1 of the competition proper is on Saturday, March 23rd.
    NetSetGo start at 9:30pm
    Juniors start at 10:30pm
    Inters start at 12pm
    Seniors Div 1 & 3 start at 1:30pm
Seniors Div 2 start at 3pm
Please be at the courts at least 30 minutes before start time so that you are prepared.
  4. Jewellery needs to be left at home.  This includes earrings, bracelets, necklaces and anklets.
  5. Fingernails should be trimmed before you get to the courts…court-side manicures are never very good and take up valuable warmup time.
  6. Uniform – If you are waiting on uniform to come from the supplier, then a plain white t-shirt and black skirt or shorts will be fine to wear.
  7. Netball is about having FUN – let’s not lose sight of what we are here for!

Looking forward to a very fun filled successful season.  See you at the courts!

Ok seniors…training is cancelled for you too now

Sorry for the late notice but the rain has now set in…see you next week

Inters and seniors are training…yeah
