With our Deakin courts being resurfaced over the summer, SCNA has worked closely with Arawang Netball Association to run a Twilight Social competition for the SCNA community that we know our players love.
Arawang has a smaller number of courts so this will constrain the number of teams accepted. This also means that games are starting a little earlier than normal to ensure SCNA can get more teams on court before sunset.
SCNA has opened registrations and we strongly encourage those keen to play to register over the next week to enable us to confirm teams.
Please note players will be limited to play in two teams e.g. Women’s + Mixed.
The details you need to know:
Dates: The nine-week social competition will run on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 15 October to 11 December.
Address: Arawang Netball Association, Sherratt Pl, Stirling.
Timings: The timings below are approximate only and we may see teams play the timeslot earlier if needed as outlined below. Timings will be confirmed before the season begins.
| Tuesdays | Wednesdays | |
| 5pm | Juniors (Year 5&6) (+ possibly Inters) | NET, SET, GO |
| 6pm | Inters (Years 7&8)(+ possibly Cadets) | Women’s Div 1 (+ possibly GO Games) |
| 7pm | Cadets (Years 9&10) (+ possibly Women’s) | Mixed (16+) |
| 8pm | Women’s Social (Year 11 – open) | Mixed (16+) |
Costs: The cost to play varies from one age group to the next as this enables Bullants to pay an appropriate umpire for each division.
Discounts: SCNA are offering discounts for players who have not played netball in the ACT during 2024. For new players please email bullantsnetball@gmail.com for discount code BEFORE REGISTERING. If you can share a screenshot of your registration page where it shows the Netball ACT charge being applied.
Want to play with a friend? Please email your request to bullantsnetball@gmail.com with the names of friends you want to play with. We cannot guarantee your preference, but we will do our best.
Register now:
PLEASE ensure you have selected the correct competition.
Any questions: Reach out to bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

There is a lot in today’s blog, including finals fitness, an invitation to our end of season functions, and links to our player’s player voting. Please read to the end to make sure you don’t miss out!
Finals fitness: is ON this week, Tuesday night between 6:30-7:30 at SCNA for our Inters and above. If you did not attend last week and would like to attend this week, please do so!
End of season: Unfortunately, we are getting close to the end of the season, with this weekend being the last game for some of our teams. If your team will make finals (or are leaving it to the last moment and hoping to qualify this weekend…), we’ll be in touch next week to confirm game times, but please note these may be slightly different to your regular game time.
Presentation night: We’d love to invite you along to our annual presentation nights, which will allow us to celebrate the season and highlight some award winners. RSVPs will close 7 days prior to the event, so for our seniors that is the 14th of September, and for everyone else that is the 18th of September.
Seniors: 21st September – Venue TBC – RSVP HERE
Our senior players are invited to join us for celebrating, awards, nibbles and some netball trivia to celebrate the end of season. After the awards, we encourage you to stay for dinner after the presentations. We’ll come out with some more info shortly!
NSG, Juniors, Inters and Cadets: 25th September – SCNA courts – RSVP HERE
5:30-6:15: We’d love to invite our Net, Set, Go and Junior players for fun games with coaches and award presentations.
6:15-6:45: All players (NSG, Juniors, Inters, Cadets) – Pizza party and games time!
6:45-7:15: We’ll say goodbye to our NSG and Junior players, and do awards, presentations and celebrations for the inters and cadets players.
To confirm: Net, Set, Go and Juniors players: celebration between 5:30-6:45; Inters and Cadets: celebration between 6:15 and 7:15pm.
Whilst parents and siblings are welcome to stay and mingle on the outside courts while the awards are underway, the club will be providing food for players only.
Player’s Players: For our inters, cadets and seniors, we invite you to nominate your vote for Player’s player, that will then be awarded at our presentation night.

2024 Finals Fitness EOI – Inters/Cadets/Seniors
To support our weekly training and overall game day fitness/conditioning, we are considering running specialised fitness sessions for our inters/cadets/seniors. These sessions will be run by a qualified fitness professional with experience at state-level netball.
Initially, we are looking at trialling the sessions over the next few weeks in the lead into finals. Should the sessions be successful, we would look to extend the offering in 2025.
There is no cost to attend. If we can’t access the SCNA courts, we intend to secure a location nearby.
The trial period will be run on Tuesday evenings between 6.30-7.30pm. Apologies if you or your child are interested in participating, but unavailable. We would still like to hear from you to determine when is the best time to schedule these sessions next year for maximum participation.
Please fill in the form here before midday Sunday so that we can plan appropriately.
BBQ Duty
We are on BBQ duty next weekend, the 24th of August. Please click here to sign up, remembering that the expectation is that we get a few volunteers from every team.

We’re still in need of some volunteers for tomorrow, particularly court set-up first thing in the morning, a few canteen spots throughout the day, and court pack-up. Please register here!
We’ve also found out that the clock is not functioning correctly! SCNA are on it, and will ensure that the quarters remain the right length for each timeslot, but this may not be reflected on the clock itself and the time shown may not be the same as the time that is left.

We’re on the home stretch of the season now, and approaching finals in a few weeks time! For a lot of divisions you will start to see split rounds over the next few weeks, which will be run as half games. Your coach/manager will let you know if/when this affects you, but please keep your eye out for these!
Importantly, we are once again on canteen duty and court support this weekend. Please sign up here, remembering that we need volunteers from every team!
It was wonderful to be back at the courts last Saturday and see the joy on the faces of everyone involved in playing, coaching and umpiring. We are very fortunate to have a community of supporters that enables us to put 30+ teams on court every weekend. This includes our fabulous team of coaches and umpires who invest their team each and every week.
Unforunately, as an association, we are seeing an increase in poor behaviour – aggressive play on court and criticism of players, coaches and umpires (many of who are young and developing). SCNA has made it clear behaviour that goes against the Code of Behaviour won’t be tolerated. While we know many of us are competitive, we ask all to participate and support the game in a positive way and with respect for everyone involved. We are hoping that netball can remain a fun and safe space for everyone.
We’ve also been asked to pass on a few messages to the wider Bullants community:
Following up on the wonderful success of our very first Pride Round just before the holidays, Netball ACT is currently looking to provide an online LGBTQIA+ education session, which will be run by Pride in Sport in September. This is open to all members of the netball community but recommended for those 16+, or for those under 16 with the company of a guardian. If you’re interested, please click the link here to complete an expression of interest.
We’ve recently been asked to share a link to some research from Deakin University to reduce gender inequality in sport and active recreation participation. They are conducting an online survey on barriers and strategies to support the participation of women and girls in sport and active recreation during menstruation. Click here if you’d like to participate, it only takes 10 minutes!

We hope you’re as excited as we are to get back to netball this week! We will be back to training this Wednesday the 24th and games this Saturday the 27th! There are no more breaks in the season, so we’ll now play weekly until the end of August, and then hit finals in September!
For our morning crew on the 27th of July, we’re on canteen duty between 9-11am. We’d need some volunteers from our NetSetGo and Junior parents to sign up here.
We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!
