Saturday

It was fantastic to see so many happy netballers on court on Saturday.

A few reminders for this week.

Bullants has a strong tradition and focus on enjoyment in netball. We invest in our players, coaches and umpires.

Please remember the golden rule – players play, coaches coach, umpires umpires. So players listen to your coach, parents support and cheer but don’t instruct. And remember our umpires are often developing too so be supportive.

Bullants is a large club and what we individually do on Saturday sets the tone for the competition.

Given the on court restrictions this season managers can you please rotate through scores with interested parents so parents can get at least some time court side this year. Parents/players if you don’t know who your team manager is please ask on Saturday and for the 2/3 teams who don’t have one – please consider stepping into the role.

SCNA requires volunteers for each session. Please sign up at this link:

This is another way to be court side.

Please meet your team/coaches at the bullants banner again.

Coaches, please remember to do post game wrap ups off court and write the name of your Bullants umpire on your attendance sheet.

Netball is a team sport so it is important all players come to training so the team can work together.

Finally, Bullants is run by volunteers. I would like to thank the outstanding efforts of the committee to get 25 teams on court and playing netball in the current environment.

Please support your committee to support the club.

Parking

SCNA have asked us not to use Makin Place to park as it could become unsafe with kids warming up and moving across from the soccer oval. Kings street is available for parking.

Uniforms

If you have second hand uniforms you wish to have a new life we will purchase them for $40. Please bring to training.

Saturday Competition

We are back on court this weekend! Things will run a bit differently in the new covid-safe world. Please help SCNA and Bullants Netball Club by understanding the arrangements and following guidance by officials on the day. And, please do not attend if you are unwell or required to isolate.

Bullants will have a staging station set up on the west side of the courts on the oval – outside the fencing. Look for the banner. This is where you go to ask questions.

All players, coaches, managers, umpires, please go to the Bullants staging area 30 minutes before your game. Coaches will assemble teams from here for warm up. You will not have access to the courts until 10 minutes before the game it will be get in, play and leave, then next session. If you are late to the game you will not be able to enter the courts.

All people entering the courts will need to use hand sanitiser.

No spectators are allowed inside the courts for now. Coaches and managers will be with the players. Players must maintain social distancing when not playing. Teams must exit courts swiftly – only have 10 minutes so the next session can start.

Toilet facilities are only for emergencies and there will be no food service.

The courts will be split into two zones. Zone A is courts 2,4,6,8. Please enter from the Kings Street side of the courts. Zone B is courts 1,5,7. Please enter Makin Place side of the courts.

Please avoid driving down Makin Place to make it safer for the players to enter the courts.

The score sheet it to include the names of all players, coaches, managers and umpires for the game – this is for contract tracing purposes.

SCNA have posted a DRAFT game schedule for Saturday 25 July (http://scna.act.netball.com.au/). However, as SCNA are waiting for confirmation from Netball ACT the schedule could still change between now and Saturday. We will post updated information as soon as it is available. This will include details of how the competition will be managed on the day to ensure it is covid-safe.

Some information we do have includes:

  • There will be specific entry/exit points and strict management of the flow of people.
  • Spectators will not be able to enter the courts – only players and coaches/managers.
  • Toilet facilities will be limited – so please try to avoid needing to use them.

On Saturday Bullants will have an information station outside on the grassed area on the football oval side of the courts – look for the Bullants Banner. Players should head there to meet up with their coach/manager and team members.
