Best wishes for ACT Junior Championships

To our Bullants community who are representing South Canberra Netball Association and playing, coaching, managing, umpiring or cheering from the sideline over the next two weekends at the ACT Junior Championships we wish you the very best of netball fun and success!

Lost Uniform

Someone left behind a CGGS uniform skirt, jumper and shoes in a white canvas bag. If it’s yours please send an email to bullantsnetball@gmail.com so we can arrange to return them to you.

Rd6/7/8; BBQ thanks, scoresheets, lost property

Well done for braving the cold on Wednesday night for training. Layering clothes is important during these colder months, as is a good warm up to prevent injury. It is acceptable to wear leggings or a top under your dress on game-day, black is preferred,

Upcoming dates of no netball. Due to the June long weekend, ACT Junior Championships and the school holidays, we have a disjointed few weeks of netball ahead of us. We will still train on Wednesdays throughout the school term. The next three rounds and dates for the competition are:

Round 6 – 4th June

Round 7 – 18th June

Round 8 – 23rd July

BBQ thanks. Thank you to all those helpers who helped out on Saturday and made our BBQ duty run so smoothly. The club receives part of the profit from this BBQ duty and this goes towards our end of season celebration, equipment and umpires. Thanks again for your valued time and effort.

Scoresheet: Please can all players, coaches and managers check that player names are pre-printed on the scoresheet for your team. If you have a player who is not listed on the scoresheet, please advise the Bullants committee.

Lost Property – We have an almost overflowing basket of lost property that has been left at the courts after training over the last few weeks. Come to the pavilion next Wednesday if you have lost something – a raiders jacket, SCNA jumper, various other jumpers and drink bottles.

9am games cancelled

SCNA will reassess each game timeslot today – be prepared to play later rounds

National Reconciliation Week, BBQ, Rotary

This weekend is Reconciliation round! SCNA is proud to be hosting a Welcome to Country at 11am in front of the clubhouse, followed by SCNA Indigenous team vs. SCNA team game from 11.10-11.35am on Court 2. Look out for a special artwork that has been created for SCNA by local Indigenous artist Budda Connors on display. Elements of Buddha’s design have been used to create SCNA’s Indigenous uniforms which will be worn by our State League players in games over the coming weeks and into the future for Reconciliation week and other Indigenous events.

We encourage our Bullants community to be part of these special events.

PLEASE NOTE, the start times of all games from 11am onwards will be delayed by 10 minutes – please check all your fixtures (i.e. 11am now 11.10am, 12pm game now 12.10pm, 1pm game now 1.10pm, 2pm game now 2.10, 3.15 game NOW 3.30PM).

BBQ – Bullants are running the BBQ this weekend. The BBQ roster will go to Team Managers. Mark your calendar now to assist with your team’s BBQ timeslot duties.

Do you want to be a Rotary International Host Family?

We have a Bullants Inters Player looking for volunteer families for the Rotary Exchange program in return for her overseas exchange program application for next year.

Games & BBQ Duty this weekend

This coming Reconciliation Day long weekend (28th May) is Round 5 of games and Bullants are on BBQ duty. Please look out for messages from your team Manager about your team’s BBQ duty.

Thanks for supporting Bullants and SCNA.

Reminders

We are all looking forward to Round 4 tomorrow. SCNA has reminded all players and supporters to observe the requirements for participation:

2022 Winter Comp Officially Underway

As the whistle is about to blow for the 9am games, we wish all our players, coaches, umpires, managers and supporters a fun 2022 Winter season!

Club Update

We have received the following reminders from SCNA:

Injuries: all injuries are to be reported to the SCNA office for insurance purposes

Earrings: Players are not permitted to wear earrings while playing (even if tapped). Please remind your players that this is not the best time to get ears pierced

Assistance: Please make sure that when your teams have court-assistance or canteen allocations that your volunteers are ON TIME – it is unfair to those on the previous shifts to have to hang around if you are late!

Be Court Ready: It is not just the responsibility of the umpires to ensure all players are court-ready (i.e. nails cute, earrings out, watches, hair ties and other jewellery off). All coaches and parents should ensure their children are ready to take the court prior to the start of games. We have already had a number of incidents in the last 2 weeks of injuries related to people still wearing watches/ jewellery or playing with very long nails.

NO DOGS are allowed inside the SCNA courts (and technically not on the ovals surrounding our courts) – this is an ACT Government rule which we will be enforcing

Updated Draws – now that Grading has finished, the grades are being finalised and the competition draws will soon be published on PlayHQ. We suggest you check the draw on Friday. https://www.playhq.com/netball-australia/org/south-canberra-netball-association/8231a9c0

All training cancelled

Sadly the rain is not easing so the courts are too wet to train. 6.30 and 7.30 sessions cancelled too.

See you Saturday.
