Training and pre-season preparations.

This week is the last week of training before the school holidays! We’re crossing our fingers that the sun stays out so we can train! Either way, it is looking like a chilly evening, so make sure you rug up! If there are any wet weather updates, keep your eyes peeled to the blog in the late afternoon.

Uniforms: Please ensure that if you haven’t already purchased a uniform, you do so this week at training. Someone will be available to help with uniforms from the start of training. It’s crucial that we get these organised now so that we can ensure availability for the season.

Team names: As you may have heard by now, we have new team names for the club for the season. For our NetSetGoers and Juniors, your team names are names of Australian Ants. For our Inters, Cadets and Seniors your team names are named after trig points in the ACT. Maybe teams could schedule a team hike up the mountain your team is named after during the holidays (though we note that some of the trigs are easier to access than others…).

New rules: For 2024, World Netball has introduced some new rules. We will run an update session for our coaches and umpires after the school holidays, but you can access the new rules here if you’re interested. If you do have a look ahead of time, please note that we don’t think SCNA will be introducing the tactical changes this season.

Interested in coaching? We have a number of senior teams without coaches, we’d love to hear from you if you are interested! If you cannot commit to both Wednesdays and Saturdays, we have teams that would benefit from support at training, as well as teams that would benefit from some game-day management. If you’re playing seniors and would consider helping another team out on a Saturday, please let us know!

Interested in umpiring? We’d also love to hear from any interested umpires, whether you have experience or not! We’d love to help support your skill development and best of all, pay you for your time!

We need team managers – there are a few teams we haven’t heard from yet, and teams will need a manager to be able to take the court. Please volunteer if you haven’t already to help make game days smoother for our coaches and players.

Team Grading Night – Tomorrow!

Just a reminder that for our Juniors, inters, cadets and seniors tomorrow night you will be playing grading games to help us best determine which division to nominate each team in. Please make sure you arrive with plenty of time to get us on court and ready to go by the start of your usual training time.

For our NetSetGoers, we will have training as usual!

For everyone, please make sure you arrive at training tomorrow ready to train/play. There is NO need for uniforms tomorrow, but please ensure your hair is up, nails are cut, and jewellery removed before you get to the courts.

If you haven’t already been in touch and could help us umpire during any of the timeslots tomorrow night, please let us know by emailing bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

For all parents that are not umpiring, we ask that you wait outside the courts, and remember to leave your dogs at home!

Training updates & last week of uniform shop

Teams: For most divisions, last week was the first week training with your new teams. Hopefully, most of you will have met your coaches, and are feeling excited and ready for the season ahead.

Team names: Are coming this week and we are so excited to share! We’ve made the decision to retire the old team names, and trial some new names. For our seniors, cadets and inters your team names will reflect the mountain peaks around the ACT. For our Juniors and NSG, we’ve had a lot of fun learning different species of Australian Ants, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you too!

We welcome feedback on this move and look forward to sharing your new team names!

Important dates: The first game for each division will be the 4th of May. SCNA will run two weeks of grading, before the season commences on the 18th of May. Games will continue weekly until the 15th of June, at which point we will have a break for junior championships and school holidays, will netball resuming on the 27th of July. Round games will continue until the 31st of August, then there will be three weeks of finals, with grand final day falling on the 21st of September.

Uniforms: This week is the last week to try on a uniform, and the shop will be open one last time this week at training. You’ll find us behind the pavilion in the shaded area.

Parents: Please wait outside of the fence for your kids, and allow the coaches to have the kids full attention for the entirety of the training session.

Dogs: Unfortunately, as much as we love them, dogs are not allowed on ACT sporting grounds. This includes both inside the fenced area, and on the ovals surrounding the courts. The best option is to leave them at home!

See you all on Wednesday!

Reminder – NetSetGo starts tomorrow and we need volunteers!

A reminder to all our NetSetGoers that we start tomorrow night! Please come along to the courts by 5:20 to ensure we can get you on the courts and ready to play!

We are also having our welcome BBQ tomorrow night, and we welcome players, coaches, umpires, parents and supporters from 6:15pm-6:45pm.

We are urgently seeking volunteers to help us run the BBQ from 5:30pm. If you are available to help please email us ASAP on bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

For all other age groups, we’re looking forward to getting you training into teams! See you at the BBQ and then training!

This Wednesday – Welcome BBQ & NetSetGo begins!

As we kick off training for 2024, we’d love to welcome our players, coaches, umpires, parents and supporters to join us for a BBQ on Wednesday night to start the season.

Please join us at the courts from 6.15pm-6.45pm. Our 5.30pm training will finish early at 6.15pm and our 6.30pm training will kick off at 6.45pm.

We would also welcome any volunteers to help staff the BBQ. Please email – bullantsnetball@gmail.com.

NetSetGo: You’ve been so patient, and it’s finally time! We’re so excited to welcome you to the courts this Wednesday! Please arrive by 5:20 this week to allow for us to get you all on court and ready to go!

Uniforms: The uniform shop will be open this week, so Netsetgo parents can grab your uniform pieces, we ask that if you need your child to try something on, that you wait until after training, instead of trying to do so before training starts.

All other age groups: Training commences this week! Juniors (+NetSetGo) at 5:30; Inters and Cadets at 6:45 (following the bbq); and Seniors at 7:30. Thank you for all your hard work in grading, we’re looking forward to setting you up for the season ahead. We still have a few details to finalise and teams to ponder over, so we will aim to have the majority if not all teams training together from Wednesday.

Please arrive to training with your hair up, jewellery taken out, short nails, and plenty of water for the warm day.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns at bullantsnetball@gmail.com. If you can’t make it to training this week, please let us know! From next week onwards we will ensure you have your coaches contact details to let them know directly.

Grading – Week 3!

We’re now in the swing of things, grading continues this week for Juniors at 5:30, Inters and Cadets at 6:30, and Seniors at 7:30.

Please remember to make sure you arrive ready for netball! This means no jewellery, short nails and hair up! If you cannot take your piercings out please bring along your own tape to do so. Please note you will have to take them out for the season proper.

The uniform shop will be open again this week, please make sure you get your orders in this week to ensure you do not miss out!

We are hoping to wrap up grading for most of our divisions this week, pending the availability of players, and jump into team selections and regular training starting next week.

As always, please let us know if you cannot make grading, or if you have any questions or concerns on bullantsnetball@gmail.com

Grading Continues – Tomorrow!

It was lovely to see so many of you at grading last week! Grading continues tomorrow the 28th of Feb, for our juniors 5:30-6:30; inters and cadets 6:30-7:30; and our seniors 7:30-8:30.

Nails/Jewellery: Please ensure ALL jewellery is out prior to coming along to grading, this includes watches and fitness trackers, as well as earrings, rings, necklaces, claw clips, and anything that might hurt you or someone else if there is a collision. In addition, please make sure your nails are short and netball-appropriate length!

Hot weather: We’re watching the forecast, and it looks like we’re in for a warm one tomorrow! Please bring along plenty of water and a towel. We are well prepared and are planning for regular breaks throughout the evening.

Uniforms: The uniform shop will be open again this week, from 6pm. If you need to purchase a dress, please do so this week so that we can put in an order. There is a long lead time on dresses, and we’d hate for you to miss out.

Second-hand dresses: Got a spare dress that no longer fits? Not playing this season? Bring your dress along to training this week and we will buy it for $40. We currently have a limited stock of second-hand dresses but will have a few on offer this week for sale.

Parents: While we love your excitement for netball, we ask that unless you are buying a uniform or volunteering, you please drop your kids off, or wait for them out on the grass. If you are keen to be involved, we’d love you to volunteer to help us run a welcome BBQ on the first night of training, from 5:30pm on the 13th of March. More details are to come soon, but please email us at bullantsnetball@gmail.com if you might be able to help out!

NetSetGo: We’re as excited as we’re sure you all are to get you back on court, we’ll be in touch as soon as it’s time but keep your eyes peeled! If you are in year 2 and have some friends who might be interested in playing netball with you, have a chat and let them know we’re keenly looking! Registrations remain open for the rest of the week, here.

Grading starts tomorrow – 21st of Feb

We’re excited to kick the season off tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st of Feb for our first week of grading!

The uniform shop will be open, but we ask that you please aim to purchase your uniforms AFTER your grading and not before (except for our senior players, please come early), so that everybody is on the court for their grading session.

Winter Season 2024

Hey Bullants Family,

We’re so excited to welcome you back for Season 2024!

The 2024 Winter Competition will run from May until September 2024 and registrations are now open. Key information is detailed in the table below.

Junior, Intermediate, Cadet and Senior players
 Registrations close on 17 February.
 Grading commences on 21 February.

NSG Set and Go players
 Registrations close on 2 March.
 Training commences in early/mid-March.

There has been a small increase in the overall registration fees. This is due to both Netball ACT and SCNA increasing their fees. Bullants has absorbed as much of that increase as we reasonably could without putting the financial viability of the club in jeopardy. PlayHQ has introduced a payment plan system, which may help to spread the cost for families.

If you have any concerns or questions please email us at bullantsnetball@gmail.com before registering. Refunds are not available post-registration if an error is made or you change your mind.

Reminder about piercings: No player can take the court if they cannot remove piercings (ears, nose, etc.,) and they cannot be taped. This is a Netball Australia rule and will be enforced by SCNA and Bullants. The last date for getting ears pierced before the commencement of the winter season is 9 March.
